: My 350 EFI conversion...oh the horror!
BillaVista 11-28-2002, 11:17 AM I've been pricing sensors for my project, using 87-92 GM 5.7L TBI
parts....YIKES!!!
These are Canadian $ prices, from a local place that gives me "jobber"
prices.
02 sensor - $35.37
Knock Sensor - $45.28
MAP Sensor - $66.73
Coolant Temp Sensor - $19.03
Throttle Position Sensor - $56.23
Idle Air Control Valve - $94.13
5.7L fuel injector - $200.95 EACH !!!
Throttle body with injectors - $359.32
Good grief! Are prices south o the border like this too? Anyone got any
other ideas for sources? Local yards won't sell sensors because they've no
way to test them. Waiting to get prices from yards for throttle bodies with injectors - they won't sell the injectors seperately
I just bought TBI for my 350. It was $280 shipped to my door with EVERYTHING except a computer (which I would replace anyways).
I suggest you start looking for someone in the us who has the setup and wants to sell it.
Bigger Valves 11-28-2002, 12:35 PM ok, just sounded like u needed all this for your motor..
BillaVista 11-28-2002, 01:38 PM I should have explained more clearly...
I don't need to buy all this stuff...I'm not crazy enough to try and piece it all together from brand new parts!
Actually, virtually everything I need I'm getting from a friend that I swapped some gears and axles for (he's on the board). heck - coz he's such a helluva guy - he's even modifying and labelling the stock wiring harness for me. Only catch is, he doesn't have a TB and a couple of the sensors. I bought a TB from a local yard - explained what I needed - they sold me TB that tuned out to be from a 305 not 350 (that's what yards are like around here)...hence the need for either a new Tb unit or some 5.7L injectors to swap in.
I was really just whining about parts prices, wondering what it's like down there - do you have to pay $60-70 for a new IAC?, and wondering if anyone had any ideas about locating injectors mostly.
xjpart2 11-28-2002, 02:05 PM if your looking to compare prices up there to whats down south, try www.lacyauto.com
hunter
YELLER BLAZER 11-28-2002, 04:04 PM I had to buy an IAC a while back, it set me back almost $60.00, but I was out of town wheelin and it was cheaper than going home 3 days early.

Bill - I have gottensensors from local Junkyards for as low as $5.00 with the caveat of no return/refund if they don't work. Try some other junkyards - the stuff you need is small so it would be cheap to ship. Try this site to search for the parts you need:

doctor_G 11-28-2002, 04:41 PM I'm assuming you tried the aftermarket for some of it?
That injector price doesn't seem right. You sure that's not the price of a kit?
Man, they get you one way or another don't they.
Charly 11-28-2002, 06:44 PM Bill,
I'l look for some injectors for you. I think I know where there are some, but I won't even get a chance to look until Tuesday (that's like 5 days from now...I know the time-space continuum is all fawked up ...up there :flipoff2: ...........actually you fawkers are SOUTH of me...lol) .
Does Brett have an ESC module for you? What else are you missing?
I like the idea of getting the sensors cheap on a no return policy.
And i imagine you can find US prices on all of these sensors (just so we can hear you bitch and moan some more :D ) here:
www.advanceautoparts.com
fawkin' canadians
Charly 11-28-2002, 07:17 PM also, if you haven't already search "TBI" on ebay motors...there is a guy there who sells a set of five of the sensors (EMTPS= early model TPS) all the time...and there may be 350 injectors floating around.
heep86 11-28-2002, 08:07 PM go to www.customefis.com i have delt with this guy a few times, ggreat product, great price (800(us) complete) and great service

I just did a '94 TBI 350 in my buggy. The distributor module and coolant sensor were broken when the engine was removed. I also needed an ESC from an earlier model engine ('94 doesn't use). I ordered the pieces from that guy for reasonable prices....worked fine.

BillaVista 11-29-2002, 09:22 AM Yep - those are the aftermarket prices!! Dealer prices are 10-20% more even with my club discount!
I did check prices at carparts.com - yoinks....looks like I should quit whining as it seems the US prices are at least as much.
Charly....let me know on the injectors, and if you dig them up just give 'em to Brett. He's fixing me up with all I need except for a couple of sensors I should prob, buy new anyway (o2 and knock).
I'll try e-bay and see what available - a bit dicey for things like injectors though - I could end up with FOUR 305 injectors.
I did find out (on web - have to call and confirm) that Lindertech sells re-con matched injectors for $25 ea. with only $3 core.
Heep86 - HOLY COW! I started there - and spent a solid 4 hours following links and furiously saving and downloading. That WinALDL looks way cool - have to se if I can build a cable.
Anyone have experience with any of these programs:
WinALDL
Winbin
Promedit
