no personal experience but i would go with a super-grooved XML for mud. look for pics of "72zebra"s tires, they are 54" XMLs that have been grooved in the coolest way (IMO).

ACtualy those are XZL's . They have a higher load range than both XML's, and XL's.

XL's have the most aggresive tread of the 3. They are in the middle as far as load range/stiffness goes.

How much does recapping cost? where can you have it done?

The XLs are a more agressive tread than the XMLs so if you are looking for mud performance go with the XL. If you are going to go with the XLs there is one thing to note, the tread blocks are tapered so as they wear down they get bigger. You can square off the edges of the tread block so they stay closer to the original size as the tire wears. Also don't forget that the big Michelins are regroovable so you can get alot more life out of them than you would think at first glance.

You can use a grooving tool and just cut deeper tread into the tire. I have just completed doing it to 2 48"s and I have yet to finish the other 2. My tires were worn pretty badly but after grovving them down to the cord (trying to soften them up too) I have got a little more than 1" in the most shallow areas.

By the way thanks for hookin me up on those tires and advise Daniel

There lookin pretty awsome, still tryin to get some pics on here

I would say easilly however I have 48's and I don't know how thick the rubber is on the 39's. I am taking out more than a half in. of rubber easily. I would say you could do it.
