I chose black for the frame and orange for the cage:

Now he is in the "shop"... I was a little hard on him so a prop shaft twisted and popped out and also broke a leaf on the back. Now waiting for some parts to replace.
Needs body panels, interior and some other bits, and it's done! Or isnīt? :D
Hope you guys like it!
maveric 06-20-2011, 03:22 PM Thats pretty sweet. Looks way better than mine. :smokin:
chvyhs 06-20-2011, 06:31 PM That looks really good. I'm going to have to copy your paint scheme. Are you going to put any shocks on it?
The-Gamer 06-21-2011, 01:51 AM Thank you! :)
Maybe someday later Iīll put some shocks, but only for looks, because, as it is, itīs already to stiff and with little flex... :(
drnut 06-21-2011, 05:43 AM At first i thought.. this should be in the RC forum.. then i thought.. he put a hella alot of work into that and its way cool! I give mad props!!
The-Gamer 06-21-2011, 06:43 AM Thank you! :)
And it is in 3 rc forums! :D
MT4Runner 06-21-2011, 08:44 AM Thank you! :)
And it is in 3 rc forums! :D
Are shackles up front common with leaf-sprung RC cars?
Need some skins!! Maybe beer can sides?
I'm very impressed with your attention to detail--the wheelin' pics look very realistic. You should try some tilt/shift photos and see if they make it look "real"!
The Rover is sweet, too. :smokin:

Wow! Easy there! Go slow with the "technical" stuff! Iīm not a native english, Iīm from Portugal and I speak very little english!
I believe you are asking if the shackles, in the front axle, are common to be in the front instead of being in the back? Well, this frame is from a 1/10 FJ40 (I have a 1:1!) and the shackles go in the front.
Here you can see the original frame:
http://gelandetruck.com/images/product/truck/fj40/g2/DSCF2193.jpg
Some more info: http://store.rc4wd.com/110-Fracture-FJ40-Steel-Scale-Frame_p_278.html
But even so, in RCs it is usual to have the shackles in the front.
Beleive me, I would like to have them the other way around if you know what I mean!

Correct--that makes complete sense, as the 1:1 FJ40's all had shackles in the front from the factory.
Here you can see the original frame:
But even so, in RCs it is usual to have the shackles in the front.
I am not aware of all the different types of RC cars--I thought that leaf suspensions were unusual and that most RC cars had links of some sort and coilovers. Shackles up front climb better on 1:1 vehicles, but don't have quite as good of high speed "manners".
Very impressive car--and your English is great!
The-Gamer 06-21-2011, 01:46 PM Fortunately, new options are presented from times to times, so we can build our rcs as realistically as possible. Not to talk abou the "home made" stuff!
Some people go to the extreme and try to mimic all the details from the chassis, suspension, steering, interior and exterior. The only thing that we cannot "reduce" is the engine! So we have to stick to electric motors and batteries! ;D
The-Gamer 06-24-2011, 04:37 AM Made some modifications while I wait for replacemente parts!
Replaced the Killer T-case for the GCM one and solved a lot of issues, such as the angle of the drive shaft, distance to the ground and saved some weight!
Also made some kind of interior...
Some photos!
Much smoother angle:

GCM transfer case. All I need now is to cut the screws:

The "interior":

I painted the seat but it turned out like cr@p, so no individual photos...
And the interior in place. Needs paint though:

I've never seen any pics of any women in your pass seat. For the record, I've never seen any pics of any women in my passenger seat, either!!
Man, that's a riot! Great job on the buggy and the pictures!
Here's a few of my V8 F-Toy at the Hammers...with my buddy Tom driving. He even looks like the plastic head GI-JOE you got driving:laughing::laughing::laughing:

bajaviking 06-27-2011, 09:00 AM Funny stuff CG, damn it, I should have worn my wifebeater shirt that day at the Hammers:D
Great RC build, I really like it!
The-Gamer 06-29-2011, 01:49 PM Some of the parts I ordered, arrived!
Bought two pairs of these to help with some flex!
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/the-gamer/F-Toy/011/dsc06392.jpg
Also installed SCX10 shocks just for looks, not the best ones but they are cheap! :D

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/the-gamer/F-Toy/012/28062011411.jpg
Also made some parts for the "hood" (bonnet?):
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/the-gamer/F-Toy/012/28062011404.jpg
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/the-gamer/F-Toy/012/28062011405.jpg
And carve "#999" in styrene, wich will be painted orange, to apply in the hood:

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/the-gamer/F-Toy/012/28062011408.jpg
The-Gamer 06-29-2011, 01:50 PM Also started on the panels. Still waiting for some stickes I made, to arrive from printing.

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/the-gamer/F-Toy/013/29062011419.jpg
On this side the panel has to open to allow for me to unplug the battery.

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/the-gamer/F-Toy/013/29062011421.jpg
The-Gamer 07-05-2011, 04:58 PM The leafs have arrived!! :D
And the other day, also the stickers got to my hands! But they were printed in the wrong dimensions... Non the less, I tried one but I didnīt like it and neither the colors were right:

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/the-gamer/F-Toy/014/02072011424.jpg
The other thing I didnīt like was the wires holding the side panel, so, I used magnets!

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/the-gamer/F-Toy/014/05072011429.jpg
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/the-gamer/F-Toy/014/05072011433.jpg
I need some more for the other panel! :D
Then, mounted the leafs with the Shooter shackles and I didnīt get much more flex but, itīs rolling and thatīs what matters to me! Maybe some day I switch to 4-link!

Applied the "hood", the interior and cutted off the guys feet! That way, he sits more comfortably! :D
