I've got one in a th400 that I had built a few years ago and I love it. My tranny was built by a family friend who used to work in a racing shop, one of his customers wanted to try it and didn't like it after he ran a couple races with it so he had it taken out and I ended up with it. It helps my poor little Jeep out tremendously.
Don't really know what kind of input you want on it but reply back or e-mail me (jds4x43@aol.com) and I'll try to answer any questions you have.

I don't know the true ratio as I didn't see the unit before it was installed and I don't have any papers on it since it was used. It was supposed to have dropped the planetary ratio a full step. I looked into having this done to another tranny for a buddy of mine and was told $250-300 at least plus the install cost.

a-1 sels the kit, they advertise in all the hot rod magazines.
the ratio only changes by 20% because they basically combine components from a th400 and th700 to get the lower gear, which ends up right arround 3:1; not much of a difference from stock. not the strongest setup in the world either!

why is it not strong as stock? just curious. i just took my th400 which i broke the housing on to the tranny shop this weekend. he is going to look up some prices on a lower first gear set for it this week. i am just curious as to why it is not as strong.

smaller idler gears, less tooth contact surface, smaller idler shafts and bearings,.........
the gear sets are about 500-600 if i remember correctly, is that really worth it?

besides, you still have to pay for the parts and labor to have the trans rebuilt, so you might as well get a low gear set for your t-case or double it!;)

i am having to get a tranny rebuilt because i broke the housing on my th400 last trip out. i just thought i'd check on it while they were doing it. i already have an atlas so the t-case gearing is fine. i do wish i had 5.13's with my 42's. i have 4.56's now.
