Buddy of mine had the jd2, nice machine. Ishopped the mitler and pro tools. Settled on the pro tools, less expensive dies and comparing apples to apples, I like the loading set up on the PT better. Lump sold the jd2 not too long after I got the PT up and running. I cant remember the model # on mine but, its the mitler copy complete with foot pedal control for the ram, much nicer than pulling that damn arm. I will say this tho', the 8" radius dies on the jd2 made a nicer leadin on the bend than the 6" PT dies do. Not guite as much pinch at the leadin to the bend.

Do a search, it's been covered before. If I recall, it comes down to die choices.

I'd say there isn't much difference in quality but more a difference in fit and finish in my opinion. you can just tell by looking at the pro-tools, since it's painted and the pins are shiny looking (not bare metal like the jd1 ones) that it's just a more refined product. they're both nearly identical in performing the same task and either will work well for many years.

I agree Morpheus. ALthough I haven't bent with the PT105, it's a real tool and does its job well. Ater all, it's tube bending, not space travel... :flipoff2:

The two also have different CLR's for the dies. JD2 does it on the half inch (5.5, 6.5 etc) protools on the inch (5", 6") I have no idea if they're interchangable. Be nice to know though

LOOKING AT THE BENDER THEY ARE THE SAME. I HAVE A JD2 MY BUDDY HAS THE PRO TOOLS. HE CAN USE MY 1.75" DIE NO PROOBLEM AND I CAN USE HIS 1.5" NO PROBLEM. HIS 1" WORKS WITH MINE IF I RIG THE PINS A LTTLE. LOOKING AT THE DIES THE MAIN PIECES LOOK THE SAME BUT THE PRESSURE DIES ARE DIFFERENT. THE JD2 ONE IS A BETTER QUALITY. THOS PIECS ARE CONSUMABLE AND NEED TO BE CHANGED EVENTUALY.MY JD2 HAS INSERTS YOU CAN BUY AND CHANGE OUT. HIS IS JUST ONE BIG CAST PIECE. DONT KNOW THE PRICE BUT GUESSING ITS MORE$$$

HOPE THIS HELPS:D
