How long do you think it will take to kil that clearance-sucking tie rod? [EDIT:] It also looks like the tie rod is so close to the housing/ brake disc... that it will rub with the steering at full lock.

The rest of the jeep looks great, even if there is bird-poop all over the tubing in the first pic. :flipoff2:

Hey Hillbilly....where in WV are you located?

The tie rod clears fine The welds are that way because it is 045 flux core wire but a wire brush took care of all of that when I do the rear it will be with 030 bare wire

My primary question was the height... it looks like the tie rod is the furthest forward and lowest object. In that position, I'd be surprised if it lasted a trail ride or two. That's where a Toy's is stock, and let's just say I've seen quite a few get smacked. Granted, yours is beefier, but it will also have to hold up when pushed against a rock with ~1,000 pounds of axle, wheel, and tire behind it. :(

I was just paying on the welds, probably about the same way my welding looks.

I hated to have to put the tie rod in front but it was that or the control arm mounts would have to be on the bottom and I think it will be better with the arms up higher. I don't think it will be easy to bend the rod but if it does I will make a new one

Hey Extreme...it looks cool, nice paint. What kind of bender did you use on the tube work? Is there alot of trails local to you guys? I'm about 3.5 hrs. north of Beckley on the Ohio side.....I work in New Martinsville, WV and was raised in Moundsville. Later and hope to see that rig on the trail, are you planning on running the six?:D

Hey Chark, we have some decent trails around Gauley Bridge. We ride with some guys from around Marietta, it takes them about 2.5 hrs to the trail head, just to give you some idea. The trails are about 30-45 min from CHarleston.

I used a hydraulic jd2 bender. The trails we have are around Gauley Bridge WV and YJ4rox could tell you more about them because he built most of them

Hey 4x4E,

the rigs looks nice. I too think the tie rod needs to be located
ontop of the knuckles....

I have a question for ya: what size are the coilovers, 2" or 2.5",

what length, and what springs did you use front/rear.

thanks,

King 2.5" 16" travel

The spring rate right now is 80/300/300
But that is just a starting point I will change it when I get it out on the trail

Yes he is going to run it unless he runs into problems with it.

I was wondering if you are limiting your flex in the front by your lower Coilover mount bolt running side to side, instead of front to back.

I would hate to see you snap off the lower hole on those beautiful Coilovers.

When I get it back in the shop I am going to test that it has a rod end design and I think that I placed it right where it will not bind up through the complete travel
