I found a bunch of fj55 axles near my house and was wondering how the width of these axles compare to my '79 fj40. Thanks.

the FJ40 and the FJ55 use the same axles. Only difference on the rear axle is the added mounts for the sway bar. Other then that they use the exact same drivetrain.

Yeah I saw a few there, but I'm not sure of their condition (they were behind a chainlink fence and the grass was a little high). There were three fj55's and an fj40 that had pretty much been stripped to the frames with sections of their paneling taken out, a pile of doors, and a pile of axles. I'm guessing they were parts vehicles. They look like they've been there a while. I'm gonna look into it tommorow out of curiosity.

Dude, unless the rear spring packs are bent on the front end, I am interested in them.
