I know some of you guys have done this swap before so I have some questions. I just got the buick 225 bell housing on my sm420 and everything looks pretty good so heres the questions, can I use all the clutch and pressure plate off the 225? Also do I need to change out the bushing on the back of the engine that the sm420 indexes to, the one thats in the 225 is larger then the one in the old moter, is this a problem? any input you got would be great and are there any other issues I need to look at. Yes I searched but as usual I didnt find what I needed

You need to use the the matching bushing. although the T15 I had stock and the sm420 matched. The clutch is well... there are 3 different throw out bearing lengths for gm engines. Because of the funky bellhousing that came with the T15 I had a long throwout bearing with a short throwout bearing clutch pressure plate. Makes no sense I know. I ended up getting a full clutch set from some 80's buick with a manual (like a GN) ;) that worked extremely well. The advice I got from willys works when I did the whole thing was get a whole maching set (pressure plate, throw out bearing, clutch disk and pilot bushing) and that was the easiest way to go. So yes, you can use it. Double and triple check the lengths first though. Someone oughta have the various GM lengths somewhere

edit: I hope that made some sense. I have a sinus infection and the drugs they gave me to clear it make me feel like Im on speed

Do you have a chisle and a big hammer? Beat the shit out of it until it breaks in half. It shouldnt be too hard because its made of brass. Make sure you get the correct size for the 420 otherwise you'll trash it. Trust me I know from experience!:D Have fun and happy beating!:flipoff2:

Pack it full of grease and use a punch to press the grease in, that'll press the bearing out.
