Cool! Saw the flyers posted up at HIC and 4WParts for the comp in October. Is the park open for use other than comp weekends?

Cool they got it up and running finally but still sad that it was land provided for free by the state. It was suppose to be for off-roaders to have an "open" place to ride in order to encourage off-roaders not to off-road in other areas of the island. This was a result of a lot of negative press by residents who are writing DLNR in protest of off-roading and reporting to the news.

Hey Kala....very true that it takes everyone to kep spreading the word to get more land opened up.

What I meant to add (kids were going nuts and got distracted) is that it is sad that this land was provided for free in order to discourage off-roaders from going elsewhere at the same time of having free "open" land to enjoy. But instead of it being a free land free area to wheel it has become an off-road racing/krawling event business only and not an open area for off-roaders to freely take their vehicles. I would be interested to know how many off-roaders (true numbers) are paying to use the sandbox as opposed to using other areas to wheel.

txrock, the sandbox park will hopefully be opened every other weekend for free or a very little charge ($5). but because they dont have enough confirmed volunteers to operate the track, and they still have operating costs, its still in the process of working out.

as far as the competitions go, these will be held every other month as an event. the park has operating costs it needs to cover even though the land was donated. they still need to use heavy equipment to take care of the track, provide restrooms, etc. no one has offered to donate any of the things, but theres alot of helping hands that put this track together.

good to know! When is the next open track time, as well as projected project date for help to build? Would like to bring some other Jeepers.
