Getting peoples input on which they prefer a premade tapered insert or a tapped piece of tube(thick wall) welded....and yes I know the later offers 100% more welding surface area as is more then likely alot stronger but is it necessary?

What ever peels your nanner dude. Both work. I can't say that I have ever seen either fail.

its really up to you. As for me, I like the 1.25" OD x .281" wall DOM, tapped w/ 3/4 x16 ends for steering links...then I use weld-in ends for suspension links. The weld-in ends allow me to use 1.5" x .25" wall uppers and " x .25" wall lowers. But i've been known to use the 1.5" links for steering as well.:p

I like the taped ones

As I use rods out of one ton chevy
or dodge cut and tap one side.
use other side as is.

ps some heavy 3/4 tons use same rod

cheep and easy works for me,
