Been reading Rudezuk's thread and i was wondering, how many of you rent space in a commercial area to work on your shit, and how much is it costing you. I dont have the problems that he has, my neighbors are cool, but now that my rig is running and mostly done my mom has taken over the garage again, which means i need a place to work, not to mention i'd like to start building some stuff to sell and have no desire to piss off all my neighbors working at all hours of the night. Just wondering what i should expect to pay for space near me.

Sucks huh!? I live in apartments so I don't even have "Mom's garage", All of my wheeling buddies locally have garages and lots of air tools, so I hit them up if I need a shop.

basically stole a buddies shop... only downside is shitty wiring... no welding because of poor circuits... it's more of a warehouse, but I think he pays 325/ month... and it's a bad ass place to get out of the rain and keep tools... i'd say it was 60' x 20'... nice big spot...we have 4 rigs in it right now...

garages all full of shit in sac. so four of us got together $75 amonth plus whatever the 2.5m in insurance (incase we burn every other unit down.) costs.all the tools pooled plus no rain in the miidle of a tear down, just shut the door and go home .Makes it real nice.Plus no phone so the wife cant bug ya because needs something fixed at home.

Not California, but me and 3 of my buddies share a 2400 square feet shop..... costs us $450 a month plus electricity... all other utilities are taken care of....

But for some reason... real estate sell & rent in this shithole of a town for outrageous prices...

Hope to sign a lease soon on 1500 sq. ft. for $450/month. Walking distance from home for when the rig is down. It's a shithole, but it'll be a shop.

Having a shop is where its at. Just be carefull who you share it with. I just moved out of my first wherehouse two months ago because over the two years we were there, the guy I shared it with slowly took over all the space. He had to move my Cruiser in and out all the time. The whole place was totally packed with his crap and lots of it. Now its his. Besides that It was rad. Welding ,cutting, grinding all at 2:00am. No complaints. You really cant beat that . Get it cheap. I got ripped off by that landlord for two years (960sf@$1000month).

We sublease from a dude in Wake Forest, 120X85, $100.00 a head a month. Access to his tools (providing your cool about things) and 3 phase power, lift etc....... Real handy.

man i gotta move! i'm paying $650/month for 1200sf and it's 45 minutes away. and that's a helluva deal... most places around here want $1500 or more and then they find out what you want to do and decide not to rent to you :flipoff2:

I rent a 1500 sq ft shop with 3 other guys. It has 220, heat, a bathroom and an office with AC. This runs $435 plus utilities. Water is the most expensive @ $25 a month.
