I am wanting to get rid of the two piece rear shaft on my rodeo. I am currently sitting on a GM 12 bolt rear so I have a homebrew shaft anyway. But I am wanting to get rid of the carrier bearing because I keep breaking it! The problem is that I have a slip yoke on the case and ALOT of rear suspension travel. I am sprung over on stock leaf springs with approx 4" over stock boomerang shackles so it flexes like crazy. So what I have in mind is swapping in a one piece shaft on a fixed yoke at the case and running a long slip on the axle end. So I was wondering has anybody done this. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Lots of people have done this swap.
The best way to get a fixed output is to pick up the isuzu t-case that came behind the sohc 3.2 with auto tranny. You can then use the back half of the auto t-case and the auto t-case gears to create a fixed output. Then build a driveshaft with slip in it and your done.
You can also drill and tap the output of your t-case and bolt the slip yolk to the output shaft, but it ends up being longer than just switching over to a fixed yolk case.
Or, you could install a '93 rodeo tranny/t-case. This is the way I went, as I also installed a 3.2 at the same time.
