I did a quick search and didn't find anything relative. I know my BII really well but I just don't break the wifes cherokee very often. The local parts stores all say I have to buy an entire hub assembly to replace the front wheel bearings on a '94 cherokee. Say it isn't so! They want almost $300 CAN for them! Can I get just the bearings? I have the tools, I have the know how, can I get the parts?

Yeah you'll have to buy the whole hub assembly. 89 and older have separtae bearrings but 90 and up don't. It'll probably run about $150 or so.

To the best of my knowledge, no one has rebuilt one of those hub assemblies as of yet.

As the Duche eluded to, we can pick them up for about $150 south of the border.

One recommendation; make sure you get a Timken brand hub assembly and not some overseas knockoff. Some buddies of mine have had real bad luck with the overseas junk. The Timkens usually come with a lifetime warranty as well. That means a new hub every month ... for you, your buddies, whomever needs one.

What CMK said. Hands down.

I bought a hub 2 years ago, and a second one (for the other side) a year ago, and both of them were dead by this past summer.

2 new Timken hubs later....

SUPPOSEDLY....... you can press the old bearings out, but the couple of folks I've talked have given up on it. The bearings weren't cheap enough to make it worthwhile.

My friend had the bearing assembly pressed apart and had new bearings installed on his '88. This was several years ago and cant remember the cost, though. Probably didn't save that much money.

Ya gotta buy the hub. You can't use the replacement that takes an actual bearing cause the width is different. Sorry for being vague, but I'm not an XJer, just have buddies with unijeeps.
