Hmmm glad I read this thread, was about to pull the trigger on a set...

What's the word on Ford knuckles?

I can't go true hi-steer on mine due to frame clearances and I can't just set on top of the stock steering arm due to interference with the dif cover so these look to be perfect way to get my steering somewhere in between...

Looking forward to an answer...

Sean, again sorry for the inconvienences. Can you still check the other side knuckle and high steer arm to see if the problem just lies with that knuckle that was put on the machine? I don't need it to be setup in the vice and machine or anything, just put the arm on the knuckle and see if it looks like the hole placement will be generally in the same place.

We're looking to source that year axle here locally to see if the problem is specific to that year axle. Original calculations placed the hole more inward towards the center of the high steer arm. Whatever we find, we'll make sure to take care of those who are running into issues even if it means machining a custom arm to match their needs. We will work our hardest to resolve this issue quickly so that Ford owners don't have to hold off ordering.

Prototype testing was done on Solid aftermarket knuckles and we have confirmed that they work on all OEM Chevy and OEM Dodge knuckles, as well as aftermarket Reid Racing (both Ford and Chevy versions), and Solid Knuckles. I am also looking into custom machining the keyway for Crane knuckles as well.

Nate, I took a look today and it looks the same on both sides to me. That is, the nothing looks bent or out of place on either knuckle.

It almost appears that if the 'nub' portion was extended rearward it might work. But without some more measuring you might have an issue with the sidewall thickness after the hole is opened up to 3/4".

Heres two pictures I took today. They arent perfect as the perspective is off a little but you get the idea. Even the picture I took at the machinists looked like the drill was a little off but its really my camera angles.

Sean, thanks for those pictures. That really helps.

I'm going to hit some junkyards up tomorrow to see if can get my hands on a 78-79 axle. I'll let you know what I find.

Just want to post up that nate has been pro-active with this issue, reaching out to other folks that purchased the ford knuckle version. He has kept me up to date with the issue and it seems as though they will be rereleasing the ford version soon. I am confident that nate and artie will make this right in a timely fashion and square away customers that were impacted by the error.

Thank you for your patience while we get the Ford arms sorted out. We have determined what we need to do and will begin machining Ford arms early next week. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and will make sure to do everything we can to ensure your satisfaction.

BTW, Chevy arms are unaffected by this and are in stock.

Bunches of these being ordered right now. Thanks for the orders. It just makes sense to connect to the factory tie rod location where its strongest. Plus its a proven design with years of no stud sheer.

FYI, FORD VERSIONS ARE ALMOST DONE MACHINING. They'll be done and ready to ship middle of next week. Thanks for those who've been patient with us. If you want to order the Ford version on the website, please just leave a comment when checking out that you'd like them for Ford.

Got the new arms in and will be sending back the old ones once I test fit everything.

Question; can I assume that wheel backspacing tolerances have not changed with the new ford arm. Still able to accept a wheel with less than 4.75" bs????? Please advise ASAP.

In order to accomodate the change in location of the stock TRE on the Ford knuckle, we did have to add .300 to the buldge on the side of the arm. That puts the back spacing to roughly 4.5 instead of 4.75.

So are you running an introductory special on the ford arms by themselves, or is that just tied into the special for the chevy ones? Looks like the sale is ending soon....

EDIT: looks like the sale ended?

For those who'll be at the Silverstate 300, you'll see a bunch of these arms being used by Ultra4 racers. Glad to provide those racers the best and strongest arms on the market.

Of course, you don't have to be a racer to use these. These will help drastically reduce chance of stud sheer on any knuckle, on any vehicle with a front kingpin dana 60.

figured I should update. I got my new arms in, and since Artec had my knuckles this time I expect everything to go smoothly. I dont have time to put it together for a few weeks though.

Just wanted to thank Artec for taking care of me after the fact. They could have left me(and others hanging) but in the end they made it right and I'm happy.

Well as you can see from the pictures we are going to have a problem, and thats with a 5/8 drill. A 3/4 hole is gonna eat right through the side of the arm.

The stock knuckle does not look bent. And it would have to be 1/2" or so off. And I dont have a comparison of the other arm/knuckle on the drill as he wanted to show me before he took it off. Being a weekend he was reluctant to set up the other side today for me.

Thanks for your patience Sean (and others too). Even though you haven't had a chance to bolt everything together, we did. Here's your knuckles and high steer arms all put together.
