I have been Wenzeled by Steve Gardner

This didn't take place with a memeber on here.
I sent Steve Gardner AKA "THE BEAST" $1,000 for a HP Dana 60 and an extra $500 for parts for the axle plus some coil buckets for him to weld on. Well I never received the axle. Steve claimed the guy he was getting the axle from took the money and never gave him the axle. He said that he had taken action against the guy and he would get my money back. I was understanding and I waited.
Then I asked him for the $500.00 I gave him for the extra parts. He never said what he did with the money and I still haven't received it. I have sent him several emails and even talked to him a few times and he keeps making excuses. I have all the email saved from before I sent him the money and after he received the money.
Every time I sent him an email he just replies that he is gonna start send me money soon. Well its been almost 2 years I am fed up with it. In the past 2 years he has built a nice little Toyota truck and done some things to his Dodge.

He is a member of Lockitupoffroad.com and lives in Mobile AL. He is also in the Coast Guard. He gave me these numbers 1-251-649-2299 and 251-533-2275 to call him at but they have been disconnected.

This is not the 1st time I have heard stories about him that are similar to yours but you already know that from the other board..

Im not too up to date on the Coast Guard, however in the Air Force we have a guy called a "First Sergent" who handles matters like these. He is sort of a liason between law enforcement at various organizations. I would try to get ahold of his Unit and inform them that he has basically comitted fraud. Im not too certain they can punish him or force him to pony up the cash, however this reflects negatively on him in the eyes of his superiors and might assist somehow in your favor. Feel free to e-mail whomever may listen at his home station (not sure what the coast guard call it) and that is proof enough that he owes you something.
The Air Force routinely mandates early retirement from even two star Generals based off of simple E-mail transcripts, like insubordination, Adultery, scandals etc.....so they can hold water in court etc....

#2 This didn't happen on this board or even with a member on here? How do you suggest anything be resolved with this post? He can't post his side of the story (not suggesting that you are lying but there are always two sides).
#3 Get your reciepts of payment together and take his ass to small claims.

I live in CA, so that's not an option. I just find it amazing that you have sat idle waiting for $1500 for 2 years when you live in the same state. Are you afraid of confrontation and the only way you are able to communicate is through the intardnet? Can you actually get up off your couch?

you need to take a buddy with ya and just "go for a ride" and show up and knock on his door........ask him nicely for your money back.......if he wants to fight then fight

If he was gonna do that it would have been done 2 years ago when it happened Why do you think so many people get ripped off ? That's right, because they don't follow your advise.. That's why thieving sumbitches keep ripping people off because they know in most cases they can get away with it because most people won't do anything about it

I do believe MadRam is telling the truth because this is not the 1st time I have heard about this same guy ripping people off.. And guess what, he got away with it the 1st time and that's why he keeps doing it

Big plus 1 on this one. I really don't appreciate the way Madram inserted our club name into this.
We have stressed, and stressed again on our main site how Steve Gardner's personal business transactions are not related to Lockitup offroad in any way or manner
I'm sure I don't know the whole story behind their transaction, but just like here, when he posted on our site complaining about it, he got the same advice..And that would be to drive himself down to Mobile and knock on the door! I know I would!
Any normal/reasonable person I know of would be pounding on someone's door over 1500 dollars, hell I would even if I knew I'd get my ass whipped out in the front yard simply because this is 1500 dollars we are talking about!

That's the whole angle to this story that I do not understand.. Why hasn't madram done this? And it's gone on for 2 years? We've definately told him this..

Well, let me lay it out for you then..First off, I'm not really sure when he leaves and when he gets back from deployment. The nature of his unit is the fact that his schedule changes alot and on moments notice due to it's mission, plus, even if I knew his schedule it would be a violation of comsec security for me to tell you.. But I will offer you this. I might have said it on my board:

1. You live in driving distance..Come knock on his door. I will mediate it if need be.

2. I know this from experience of being stiffed myself: You can go to almost any attorney's office and the fee is around 100 bucks. Get them to do up an official letter stating your intent to bring him into small court claims in addition to other costs you incure through the legal system with a deadline in which he needs to pay in full money owed. The lawyers office will have it sent certified to his address. This in itself works well with the majority of the people in scaring them into just making it right as it did with a mechanic that stiffed me on an engine rebuild warranty..

3. Just straight bring him into small claims court. Last I knew of it was only a 70 dollar filing fee to get a date in court and it would be super easy with you since you are in Alabama.

4. Above all.. show up and knock on his door! This is very simple.. I'm not too modivated to help you if you can't help yourself by doing something this simple. Granted you might not know his schedule, but I know when I would come down if it were me.. Endurance ride week.. Then you can fist fight in the front yard and get some good 4wheeling in at the same time! lol!

Madram, I feel for you, my gut tells me that he stiffed you, but for real man..come down and settle it face to face with him! I live two streets over from him, you can come by my place and I will personally take you there, I have a feeling the shit will get settled..
