Dave Paglianite of Avoca PA
Made a gentleman's agreement with someone who is apparently not a gentleman on the following:
/forum/vehicles-trailers-sale/423100-1965-land-rover-109-5-door.html Part of the agreement was that he would return the seats and the bumper in exchange for a reduction in price on the car. (about 500-600 worth of stuff). He is not responding to repeated emails/calls to his cell. Home phone is unlisted. If you know where I can reach Dave Paglianite of the Avoca/Scranton PA area aka: bmgdave308@msn.com please drop me a PM or post it here. -Thanks -Ike

Leafsprung,
The info I found checks out. I did some recon today. I took the address and found driving directions on Yahoo. I found the guy's house. It's a yellow double. He and his mother live in the house. Apartment numbers 3 and 4. I saw the Landrover parked behind the house. His mother was outside with the dog. I asked her if I could take some pics. She said that her son takes the truck to car shows. And that he drives a dark Dodge Dually. The Moosic Police Department might have jurisdiction there. The non-emergency number is: 570-457-7269 It's not a big city so they will probably be much friendlier to you. It would be great if they stopped by and talked to this guy's mother. She would probably keep him in line. The house is located on Springbrook Road (Rt.502) The PA license plate on the vehicle reads: GHK-0773 Last edited by DTroy; 11-09-2006 at 07:15 AM. |

Doesnt make sense that he(Dave) would want to pay for shipping that stuff back,I dont think it would be cheap. Why would someone want to buy a nice looking 4x4 like that and not want the seats or bumper? Why not just offer less money? Why would you want the seats and bumper back?I guess it was a way to con you. P.S.I'm NOT trying to defend "Dave". Good luck.

WOW, THANKS TO DTROY!! Thats some serious help!! Ive been calling/emailing the guy weekly for going on a year now and I have had NO response whatsoever. Hell I called every Paglianite in the Scranton/Avoca Area.
KRB, The whole story which, due to its complexity I had avoided typing out, is this: I had moved west to Oregon and brought three of my rovers with me. This one, which I had decided to sell, was parked at my moms place in Indianapolis. Not wanting to transport it and then turn around and sell it, I listed it for sale and took phone calls and supplied pictures to interested parties, with the understanding the car was available for pickup in Indianapolis. Dave calls and is super interested, says hes ready to buy but his budget is 12K. I say, "fine, tell you what, I have another rover project that could use the seats (defender seats) and the bumper (a rare dealer option Mayflower Autmotive parts winch bumper) I will take 12K if you will send me back the seats and the bumper." He agreed. He said he would come pick it up in a weeks time. I called my mom (in her 60s) told her that Dave would be coming to pick up the rig in a week and I Fed Exed her the title and keys. She was nice enough to agree to meet him and take the payment and hand over the keys/title and she reminded him that he needed to send back the seats and bumper since she could not remove them there (and I would not expect her to). He explicitly agreed and told her it was no problem, he then loaded up the truck and I havent heard from him since. Had I been able to be there, I would have removed them before he took the car. I trusted him to follow through, and he has failed to do that, despite repeated calls and reminders, nor has he even once bothered to return my extremely numerous calls. Im even more irked by the fact he flat out lied to a little old lady who was nice enough to meet him with the keys and paperwork. Anyway, thats the long version. Im not pulling any punches, I just want whats mine. Again, thanks for all the help DTroy, Ive been trying to reach this guy for a LONG time. Im NOT about to let it drop. Your help is VERY apprieciated and I would be more than happy to compensate you for your time/trouble. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. -Thanks -Ike

Ok,
Called and carefully explained he situation to the Moosic Police. They were less than helpful. They claimed that: that is not their jurisdiction, it was a matter for the civil magistrate (which they would not provide me with contact information), and without anything in writing I was screwed anyway. I called the Avoca Police and they wouldnt answer their phones. I called the number that Dtroy listed and got no answer or voice mail. I called the cell number I have for him and left a message (as I have every week). Im addressing another (the 5th) letter to that address as we speak. -Ike

Leafsprung, I'm glad I could help in some way. As far as compensation goes, I say pay it forward.
Some numbers I found: Avoca Borough Mayor 570-457-4947 Avoca Police Non-Emergency 570-457-4011 They phone listing shows that the Mayor and his secretary have the same phone line, so she'll probably answer. She can tell you what Magistrate they fall under (I think Avoca is too small to have their own). And as far as having it in writing goes, I think a verbal complaint is sufficient enough to file a complaint with the Magistrate. The Magistrate's office will tell you exactly what's up. Hopefully legal action will work for you. |

Finding Dave
Id love to find out where he works. I'm sure a couple calls to his boss would not go unnoticed. Another Pirate member has been leaving notes on this guys truck (Many thanks) Hopefully he will decide that its not worth being harassed for the rest of his life
Thanks again to everyone. Let me know if any compensation is in order for your assistance.-Regards -Ike
