Unhappy 0 for 3 with sellers

I have responded to three different individuals advertising items in the Pirate classifieds.

#1 agrees to sell the item to me at his price all I need is the shipping amount and I will send funds promptly. He never forwards or calls (he has my #) with the info, and then sells it to someone else. No cash lost.

#2 agrees to sell the item to me at his price all I need is the shipping amount and I will send funds promptly. He never forwards or calls (he has my #) with the info. I follow up with a couple of phone calls and he says whatever came up and he will get to it. He never does and that was months ago. No cash lost.

#3 after a few PMs back and forth he accepts my reduced offer for an item and finally only then tells of "a catch", the actual condition and state of the item. Never put that in the original ad. No cash lost.

OK so is this typical on Pirate??
I have bought many items from individuals on other non 4x4 forums and never had any problem whatsoever.

I feel very lucky not to have sent payment.

That does seem odd, but no, I have not experienced any trouble buying or selling on here. If I have money to send, people usually dont have any trouble taking it!

Try being proactive, and go to www.ups.com or USPS.com and estimate your own shipping, offer to send that much shipped.

Cheers, John

Ditto on the shipping thing. It is a pain in the ass for most people to get shipping quotes. You think that they just needed to get you one. When in reality they probably had 10 looky loos asking for shipping quotes. When I want something I always offer a price shipped. That way they don't have to worry about getting me a quote and then me whining that that's to much.

So, a question here:

How the fawk is this relevant to bad sellers? You didn't lose money and you're not calling out a specific individual for people to avoid.
They didn't get you a shipping quote. It's a PITA. I ask for them occasionally and never receive one, either.

I see no dispute.

You asked for a shipping quote, they didn't respond. It would take two to have a dispute. They chose not to deal with you.

Sometimes, it just happens.

You lost no money, therefore the sale has not been made.

Juanni never said it was a dispute. as a matter of fact, juanni said it was "etc", meaning it wasn't a dispute and wasn't a bad seller. maybe you need to take "etc" out of the title of the forum as to avoid confusion. (I agree it shouldn't be here though)

btw that sucks Juanni, but at least no money was lost.

Grendel as I stated in post #1 "agrees to sell the item to me at his price all I need is the shipping amount"

The problem is the seller and I had an "agreement" that "they" would sell it to "me" and I would promptly sent payment when they determined the shipping cost.

They broke the verbal agreement.
That is the problem.

I agreed to buy it!! And they agreed to sell it to me!!
I wasn't a looky lou fishing for shipping quotes.

How to you feel about someone who verbally agrees to buy something but never sends payment?

It happens, I am not happy about it, but what does this post accomplish?

I am more than happy to find the stuff that I need here and make arrangements to buy it. I am also happy selling here.

Again, what does this post accomplish, other than chewing up bandwith?

Well, like I asked in post #1
"OK so is this typical on Pirate??"
If it is, I will stop even looking at the classifieds.

or

If this streak is very unusual I will continue to "try" and buy items in the classified section.

I had the same respones with the shipping deal and haven't acctully made any perchuses. I've gone with the Idea if I can't drive to go get it I'm not going to try to buy it. Or If I'm selling And it's big I'm not shipping. I sell alot on local sites and you always get alot of looky lou's. Most of the time the price of shipping kills the deal. Anyways Try and ship something It's a pain in the A$$. Look for a location B4 you try to buy something Thats my answer

I'll admit to having taken a looong time to shipping an item once... but that was because it was still installed on the vehicle I needed to get around.
But I did talk regularly with the buyer, he knew the deal from the start (which was a smokin deal for what he was getting), and I didn't cash the check until it was in FedEx's hands on its way to him (I called him beforehand to make sure the funds were there to save us both any greif). Additionally, though, he was waiting for a winter project anyway, so he wasn't ready for it.

This was a personal deal, and not related to the shop or the series, by the way.
I may be a little slow to ship sometimes, but I give great deals when I sell stuff

Never had any problems buying on here either. Damn near better than ebay or craigslist, except that I know the parts have been abused and by whom.
