Exclamation Broncosix bad seller!!!

I recently purchase a rear FF D60 from Brian that he claimed to be from a 78-79 Scottsdale PU and ready to run. That thread is here.

When it arrived, it was not ready to run. The pinion seal had been leaking for some time and the pinion was very loose. There were missing wheel studs. There were only 3 mismatched bolts in the diff cover. There were divots in the housing from cutting brackets off and what was left of a truss that was welded to the tubes and pumpkin as well as link and spring pads. Now, after looking at pics of his CJ, I bet this axle was in it prior to the 14 bolt he has now. It looks to have the same truss and 4 link setup.

At that time, I was like oh well... I'm putting 5.13's, ARB, 35 spline axles and Cadi calipers - I made that decision between the time it shipped and arrived, originally my only complaint about this axle was 30 spline, as I was going to run a Detroit and 4.88's. I guess I just have more work in cleaning up than I had anticipated.

So I ordered up the parts, the parts arrived and I started stripping the axle. First thing I noticed was the wheel bearings I recieved would not work in the hubs of this thing. No prob, Randy's must have sent me the wrong ones, so I emailed my salesman with the Timken part numbers (could not find a seal number).

Then I set off to bore the spindles. That's when I realized I was fucked. First I noticed the outer area of the hubs neck down, they aren't straight like a GM would be. The OD of the spindle is 1.75" - HUH!?!?! I go over and measure another D60 I have sitting here, and it's 2"!!! Ok, I think, WTF!?!?!

Then I get an email back from Randy's stating that the only two D60's that they can find that use those bearings are 53-69 F250 or 56-64 Studebaker PU!! After knowing that, it made sense on the axle lengths - as that was what was in a 69 F250!!! But only 16 spline...Making sense on spindle size now, too....

In the past, I was kind of curious about the wierd axle lengths it had (33.75") and the last year they put a D60 in the rear of a GM (not van) was in 72 (according to my Dana BOM book).

So anyway, I got fucked!! I did not receive a ready to run axle, and it definately was not out of a 78-79 Scottsdale!! I want my $950 back and the $315 I paid for shipping. After finally talking to Brian today (been emailing, pming and no response from him or his friend, Jim Clark (Jim Clark Enterprises) that sent me the axle and the one that took my money).

EDIT: I will be satisfied if you send me a (good, unmolested) empty FF D60 housing and hubs to replace this one.

EDIT: If I don't receive my money back soon, I will contact my credit card company and let them deal with this. My wife is also a federal law enforcement officer, so I'll talk it over with her and see what our options are. Since this is an intrastate transfer, it is a federal issue, not local.

Here are quotes of the information proving what I am stating:

I will have to measure the wheel mounting surface and get back with you. I should get to the shop today sometime.
The $1050.00 get the axle crated and shipped to the nearest Forward Air terminal of your choice.
This axle was pulled from a running and driving truck, in which I sold the engine, trans, t-case and front dana 60.

Let me know,

if you are planning on disputing the credit card you may want to get started in that as you have a limited amount of time to dispute the charges 30-45 days, also you will be stuck with the return shipping when you dispute the charge,

so the next logical thing to have happen here is for broncosix to post that he bought it from kyle greek and was told it was a gm d60 rear. but i give him credit for a skillfully crafted statement "I do not know what the axle came out of. I took it out of a Scottsdale truck 78 or 79." now that his whole deal fell apart, we can recognise the deceit in that statement. so another scammer unveiled-time to pay up.

Yes, but in all fairness, it was supposed to be ready to run with a Detroit, 4.88's, GM disc conversion, etc. One could easily spend $950 to build a wrecking yard axle with just those items.

I've also looked around here, and I can't find a D60 for sale for less than $400, making this a pretty good deal for me. In fact, I just bought a replacement (for this) from Utah because of that fact.

True.. But then I'd only be out about $600 instead of $1,200+....

Got to thinking...

I'd be satisfied if he was to send me a useable housing. Of course it has to be FF, with hubs and carrier bearing caps, but it could be empty otherwise (no axles, gears, diff, cover)...

yeah you could spend 950 building a junkyard axle. but at least you would know what you had in the end. 950 was way too much in my opinion. but back to the issue. where is this fucker at?

Not really, as I said in a post just before, the cheapest I could find was about $400 locally. Because of that, I just bought another D60 in Utah that is being shipped up as we speak. This one is from a friend and only cost me an Optima battery (and shipping), so $300?

Here is what he had to say about his location....

Between Spokane and Canada (WAY north/east WA), but not the point.

He fucked me, he knows it, and I never got a kiss, reach around or anything. ...The least he could have done was not mix sand with the KY!

Good luck with this. Hope you have an easier time than we are with Kyle Greek, who is a thief, BTW.

Sand in the KY.............ouch.

I agree that $400 is WAY too much for a rear 60. You should have looked harder. I've had a thread here since July '06 selling axles....unmolested rear 60s for $125.

I agree.. People like this make it difficult to trust anyone.

I think I'm good on the rear 60 now... A friend in Utah sent me one for the cost of a Optima Red.

This is obviously not going anywhere, so I'm going to file a fraud alert and open a case with my credit card company.

Apparently this Jim Clark Enterprises is quite the piece of work... I found this over here.

So if anyone is in or near Greenwood, Indiana maybe you can help. The owner is Jim Clark, and the business is Jim Clark Enterprises in Greenwood. He has also sold transmissions on eBay, as well as Jeep Classifieds.

I paid for a New Venture 4500 through three PayPal payments, and I have the PayPal transaction numbers. I have corresponded with him through telephone and email, and he usually answered the phone and said he would be getting me the transmission till he quit answering the phone when I called in October of 2006. He had agreed to hold thre transmission for me after I paid for it until I was ready to receive it. I began working on tearing down the 401 last July, so since I had a place to store it, I notified him that I was ready to receive it. I gave him an address to ship the transmission. He has only occasionally answered the phone since then. Paypal won't do anything because of the time duration from the last transaction (must be less than 45 days), and their advice was to contact local law enforcement.

Just for grins I just tried to call him, and he answered the phone!!! So his number is still good. While I was looking up the PayPal transaction numbers he hung up the phone! Not sure what to do at this point other than go to the police.
