Anybody know mtman86??
Sold him a front 60 months ago, still owes me $300. When he got the axle, he said that the wheel hub was rusted on the splines and wasn't usable. There were also peices missing once he got it, not from me from the shipper. He took out insurance on it, called the shipper and he got his money. I sold him the axle for $750, he got insurance for $850. I've been trying to get ahold of him, PMs, friends, and never get anything back. I just saw that he was on the 19th, so I know he saw my PMs. So if anybody knows him, tell him to gimme a call or PM me, he owes me some money!!!!

Is that 60 months as in 5 years or 6 months?

It was a 60 front, sold months ago. Sorry. I normally won't sell it anything inless it's paid in full, but that didn't happen for whatever reason. I still needed to pay for the truck, when I talked to him on the phone he said he would send me $350 to get things going. Which it did, got the truck and took the front out. He wanted 3.73s, the axle had 4.10s, and didn't cost much to swap the gears. But the problem was that the inside of one of the hubs was rusted pretty good, ended up torching the gear off the stub shaft. I had the extra gear, but the stub and spindle where junk. But before the torch, I was trying every other day to get that gear off. Heat, soaking it in PB blaster, nothing got it off. So, this went on for months, and there wasn't a problem, just as long as I kept him informed what was going on.
Then when I finally got it shipped, he PM'd me and said there was a problem with the load. So when I called him, he said that it was on 2 pallets, the original was pretty much gone, and what was left was on another pallet. Ended up missing a wheel hub/rotor, lockout, calipers, brake hardware, and something else, but can't remember. I called the shipper, and he took insurance on the axle, and got all of it. I sold him the axle for $750, and he got $850 for the insurance. I haven't heard from him since two weeks after he got it, that was back in April or May, maybe even before that. I was waiting to see how he made out with the claim before I did anything. He only owes me $300, but the other wheel hub ended up being bad, it was rusted on the splines. So not sure if I should ask him for the full $300, or since there was a bad part, to take a $100 off or something. I've tried email, here, his friend and never get anything back. Well, my sister is in the FBI (no joke) maybe I'll give her a call, and she can call him. I hate to do that, but no way is he getting a front for $350.... |

I was surprised to see my name posted in this forum. Here is some info on this trans action. I initially sent $350 to Joe in Oct. 2006 as a down payment. In Jan., I sent an additional $250 because ' money was tight', and this would 'speed the process'. The axle was finally ready for shipment in June, 2006 (9 months later). I did purchase insurance, and the axle came w/ a demolished pallet and many missing parts. The worst was the loss of the spicer lockouts. I was going to send him a $100 after our last correspondence for being straight up, but then someone told me about this posting. I cancelled that idea. I feel I was more than patient, as well as generous on the pre-pymt. money on this deal. Despite all this, I still think he is an ok guy, this just turned into a fubar. See two postings below for last correspondence.
Re: Dana 60 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I told you about the spindle and the stub when I got them apart. I said look on Pirate for a stub, guys are selling them all the time since they upgrade to 35 splines. As for the lockouts, the ones on there were off a Ford, who knows what year. I could have gotten you a set. Not new but still usable. Anyways, I don't fee like arguing about this. Why don't we both chauk it up as a learning experience. Next time we go to buy/sell something, we know what do to and what NOT to do. [quote=mtman86]Hi Joe, I need to get on the same page w/you. 1) The parts that are bad that I didn't know about are the stub shaft and the hub. The costs of those 2 pcs is $275 plus shipping. 2) The spindle I already knew about because we discussed it. To date, I haven't rec'd the $75 reimbursement from Jessie on it.....I know its not your problem. 3) The amount I have paid you to date is $600, not $450, w/a remaining balance of $250. 4) I don't remember anything about you sending a replacement spicer hub. Do you have a replacement Spicer unit w/all the pcs? 5) The insurance cost $55, and has an automatic $100 deductible. I've got 5 hrs of my time already filling out forms, sending pics and documents. Easy for a sales rep from FreightQuote to say no problem on insurance claims. He's not handling it. 6) The axle was $850 the shipping $565, and the insur. $55, for a total $1470. Don't know how you figured the axle would be free if insurance pays on the missing parts, based on a max. settlement of $700.00(if everything was lost). 7) I didn't pick the shipper, I didn't pack the axle. I'm just dealing w/ the aftermath. John __________________ Pics 93 S-10 Blazer SAS parts phase 92 Blazer SAS in the makings Re: Dana 60 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow, dont know what to say. I called freighquote to see if you got the insurance. Told me that the company is very good about claims, and that you should have gotten it weeks after you filed it. I didn't know about the wheelhub being rusted. When I started to take the axle apart, I was more concerned with the stub shaft and gear, I just overlooked the hub. When we talked on the phone after you recieved the axle, I said that I can get the lockouts for nothing, and would send them to you. It's not my fault that the shipper lost a bunch of parts, so why are you making me pay for them?? When I mentioned the stub and spindle, you said that it wasn't a big deal, that you can get them. I even told you a guy that was selling one, and he sent you a POS stub that wasn't usable. Again, not my fault. The only "fault" on my part is the wheelhub. I tried to contact you about the claim, and what you wanted to do, say half of the money that you owed me. As of right now you got the axle for $450, and if you got the $850 insurance, you got the axle for free basically, with money to buy the parts. If you want I can give you your $450 back, and ship it back to me..... To date, I have filed a claim w/ the insurance company and sent in most of their requested documents. Haven't heard anything yet and don't have much faith. I ordered new parts from Randy's Offroad, as well as a used set of Spicer lockouts. The cost for the lockouts was $250, and a new hub was $200(couldn't find a used one under $200). Ended out buying a new stub shaft for $75 and a new spindle for $120. Brake calipers were $45 a piece, plus hardware kits. Altogether w/ bearings and seals, the bill was $1450. I don't think I should be paying for the bad hub and stub shaft, since it was supposed to be in good/working condition. It's upsetting that alot of the parts were lost in shipping, especially the one spicer lockout. The remaining balance was $300, and the hub/shaft was $275 alone, not counting the lockout. I don't feel like I owe you the remaining balance, due to replacement of these parts. Let me know Joe.
