I took a deposit check from this guy and he called me after i deposited it to say he didn't want it anymore. I of course said no problem i would refund his money and to come pick it up from my shop since he lives locally. He in return put a stop payment on his check and now refuses to pay my bank fees. I forwarn you dont deal with this guy.

I was always under the impression if you put a deposit down on an item then change your mind later you lose your money?

Sounds like you are too nice of a guy. Why the hell would he put a stop payment on a check if you told him he could have his money back? I could understand it if you weren't going to refund it. My bank charges 12-15 bucks for a stop payment. If you were going to refund his money with no issues he would actually be money ahead to have let the check pass then pick up the money.

If the funds were returned,I dont think there is much you can do.
Pretty shitty on his part.
