Don't trust this guy.

Ih8mud deleted the original post, but I'll tell the story here. I bought the truck off of Jason Samuels with the assumption that it was a great runner. He claimed the thing ran great, all the electricals worked and this was the best chevy conversioned vehicle he'd ever seen (whatever that means??). I let him know I was looking to get an FJ I could drive while I got it ready for paint. He not only said it was perfect for that, but if I put a paint job on it I'd have a ten thousand dollar job. Well, I unfortunately decided to buy it, and have it shipped to PA. While waiting for it to be picked up in CO I received a strange voicemail from Jason saying he wasn't going to change his "lifestyle" to accomodate the shippers, and was saying he would refund my money. Apparently, the shippers called him and told them they would be in his area at 11:00 pm to pick up the 40. I agreed with him about that being a little rediculous, and told him to send me the money back. I found a guy in PA that had an 81 original owner 40 with rust, but nothing I couldn't fix over time. I was really looking for a 79-83 era 40, but the condition of Jason's 71 body caught my eye. After going back and forth (I really wanted my money back since I saw and drove the 81) we both agreed to go through with it.



When the vehicle arrived, the first thing that I was alarmed to is that the shippers pushed it off the trailer. When I got in it the thing would barely stay at idle, and the battery finally went dead. I had my wife go to my father's bodyshop and get his battery pack. I finally got it stay at idle, but it wouldn't move. The clutch was smoked. I threw it in 4 low ( it wouldn't move in 4 high either) and had to tach the everliving shit out of it to get it to move. I limped it the 1/4 mile to my dad's shop with my wife bitchin' at me for buying junk. Once I park it the radiator starts pissing coolant out of the radiator cap along with several other spots on the radiator. I got my bitchin' at me for buying junk, I have junk so I close the hood and head home. Live to fight another day philosophy.



A couple days later I head back to my dad's shop to see what other crap is wrong with this thing. The gas gauge isn't working (he told me ALL the gauges worked), the front driveshaft is at a crazy angle which is why it was binding up bad on my way to the shop two days prior, the left rear tire was badly dry-rotted (will have pics soon) and only had 50% tread when he claimed all tires were good (check original ad). I can live with this stuff, but I was still a little ticked off considering he said it was a good runner in need of a paint job. So, I decided to call him. He said that I probably didn't know how to operate the 4 wheel drive system, but I told him it wouldn't move in 2 wheel drive and that's why I put it in 4 low to get it home. THIS IS WHERE YOU GUYS NEED TO PAY ATTENTION!!! He told me he would reimburse me for a clutch. I said no problem, and that once I got it to my friends shop and torn down I would give him a call back. The clutch was completely shot. My buddy who did most of the work said he had never seen a flywheel in that bad of shape in the 25+ years he's been wrenching on cars.



All this has happened over two months ago. Never once did I post messages saying Jason was a scumbag, and sold me junk etc. etc. I kept in touch with him periodically, never got nasty or irritated at him, and we agreed on $250 to help with the clutch replacement/repair. HE AGREED AND SAID HE WOULD SEND ME A CHECK ASAP. 4 weeks went by and still no check so I called him back. He said he sent it, but I must have not received it. I still kept my cool, and he said he would send me another check that day(June 30th). Two weeks went by and still no check. I called him AGAIN, and he answered the phone and as soon as I told him who it was he hung up the phone (he has a childish, bad habit of doing this). I called him back and left him a message saying that I still didn't get the SECOND check, and this was getting rediculous. No call back. So, I posted the story on mud, and that's when I got that text message on my phone saying he was going to fix my ass along with some other expitives which left me shaking in my boots. To sum it up, I am posting this to let people know that this guy is a bullshit artist. Set aside the posts where people will say "you got a good deal, just fix it and move on". This dude said he would send money, didn't, said he'd send another hoping I didn't cash the original which never existed in the first place. That is deceit plain and simple!! I want people to know that this guy should not be trusted.

It does sound fawked up, but you took a chance buying it over such a long distance. Used vehicles are sold as is with no warranty. Honestly, I think you are getting lucky that he is even offering to pay for the clutch. He really doesn't have to. The only thing you might be able to get him for is false advertising.
Either way, he seems like a dick and I wouldn't buy from him. Thanks for the heads up. Good luck!

FWIW...I was going to keep quiet about my dealings with Jay, but he agreed to buy a set of wheels from me. He said he sent a check, and go figure, it never showed. I called him, and he said he'd take care of it. A few days go by, and nothing. He finally says he would wire me the money, but when I called him to complete the transaction, he never answered. Wierd huh??? I finally PM'd him and told him the deal was off, even after he acknowledged that he knew I needed to money to pay for the new wheels, which I bought after the deal was agreed on. Would you imagine I never heard back from him...

Fortunately, I'm not out any money, and the wheels are going to a better home...

Same thing with our conversations...Jay was very cordial over the phone and SEEMED honest. If he'd been up front I would have worked with him. Although I felt something shady was going on, I gave him the benefit of the doubt...lesson learned!!!

Your explanation on mud for asking for the $250 was because you had a shop put a Centerforce clutch in and wanted him to cover it. Why would he need to cover a $250 clutch when a stock replacement Chevy clutch runs $27 from AutoZone?

I was wondering if this is the same "JAYDOG" that bought my RC crawler on this same sight? When i say bought, i mean he told me "Ill take it!" , causing me to turn away several other buyers when i had explained that my family REALLY NEEDED THE MONEY! He told me that he would send out a money order in the morning.........three days later nothing! Had his number on caller id, so i called him up ......no answer for three days . When i finally got ahold nof him ,seemed like a cool guy ,told me he was out of town and didnt get a chance to send it out then , BUT HIS WIFE HAD ACTUALLY JUST SENT IT OUT........ Four days later nothing ,five and six days later nothing, called him again and he gave me a story that he "was real sorry" couldnt afford it, and was gonna send me some free vouchers for some shit or other ! My daughters cant eat with vouchers, which i never got AND i turned away several serious guys who actually had the cash......................

I'm not sure what club he told you about, but He made it sound to me as if he was part of the Rock Brawlers. I know a few of those guys, and we see them on the trails regularly. The guys are great on the trails and I give their members some credibility. There is no way they want their club be represented like this, and I just dismissed his claims when he said he wheeled with them. There is actually alot more to this story, but it would take too long...

As for being friends with the owner of the large toyota company...

It looks like you not only trsh your own name, but the names of people who have helped you out!!!
