Got the tcase removed

Posted 08-12-2009 at 10:23 PM by JayH

Didn't have a lot of time in the garage tonight but I got the transfer case removed. Transmission fluid poured out of the tail housing once I cracked the case apart from the tranny. So there's a seal that'll need replacing before I can put her back in.

Someone made a comment in the thread on underside protection that any transmission/tcase is just a drill bit away from being clocked perfectly. I don't know what universe he's living in but there's no way I can drill either the 231 or the tailhousing of the 46RH to clock it that way. Looks like I'll have to find a clocking ring.

After meeting a good friend for dinner at Outback in Kirkland, I stopped by another friends house in Sammamish on the way home and picked up a used 242 he's had floating around and no longer wants. I'd like to make a doubler out of it. Looks like it'll need a new input gear first.

Oh yeah, decided that the tcase needs to get clocked before I can start with new xmembers/link mounts. Gotta know where the drivelines will be once it's in final position.
