question about trailering a utv to quebec
I have never been to canada so I do not know how things work when crossing border.I want to bring my polaris rzr to a guy in quebec to do a engine swap.he says it takes about 3 weeks so I would like to drop it off then go back and get it.How hard will this be or do I need to get a trucking company to do it for me.any help would be great.

Don't know how US Customs would work but coming into Canada I doubt they care about the UTV if you say you are going wheeling at a buddies place in Qc. Just have registration of UTV, bill of sale or operators permit from your state and drivers license/passport/some type of photo ID.
Just make sure you have no guns or radar detectors in your vehicle you should be good to go! Could call Canadian Border sevice to check, they are on the web. Where are you coming from? sprntpshr Last edited by sprntpshr; 12-24-2011 at 02:11 PM. |

I've towed my Jeep (not UTV) from NY to Ontario without any problems. Although I was just going wheeling for a couple days, so I came back across the border with my Jeep in tow (had zero issues both ways).
I've been across the border multiple times (only once towing the Jeep) and I tend to get more crap coming back into the US than I do leaving it (I'm a US citizen). So I would perhaps call the US Customs and Border Patrol directly and explain the situation to them. Since you are getting a service performed in Canada (and parts being purchased there), it may require certain forms to be filled out and presented at the border crossing since it could be (and probably is) considered an import. Given that your crossing the border with a UTV in tow and nothing when returning (and vice versa when you pick it up), that is a pretty obvious red flag without appropriate documentation. I've had friends whose US border agents ask how their trip to {insert city here} was when they came back into the US after doing nothing more than scanning their passport. So I'm sure there is some sort of information exchange between Canada and the US to make sure people's stories corroborate at each crossing. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/c...er_service.xml

yes at that shop. right now just trying to sell my holz big bore motor to help out with the funds for swap as soon as it sells I will be contacting someone from there.just trying to find out what I need to get it there and back with no problems.a trucking company wants 1400 each way to ship it and thats just way to much money.I found someone closer to me that does the swaps but has not done one that is not streched.and I have asked for a price range but have not gotten a response.I have used google translate to get an idea of what you charge from some of your other post I have found on the internet.as soon as I sell my motor I will be contacting you.
