I know there is a big group here in Thunder Bay and outlying areas. Lets check in here and make networking easier. Post up and introduce yourself or to plan some wheelin'. J.P. |

I haven't heard about anything happening at Upsala this year, I did run the one race they had last year, and I came away unimpressed with how things were run, the previous years were run MUCH better. Last summer it started to rain at the end of the event and everyone just scattered, no announcing winners or anything, and sure, there was only a small turnout, but they ran everyone in the same class, a truck on tractor tires does not belong in the same class as a truck on 35" TSLs...
The track was just basicly a mud puddle, and I hate the the nearly vertical launch of an exit. My truck is not airtime friendly.... LOL But, being a sucker for punishment, if they're running this year, I'll probably be there. ![]() Lots of water, not much mud. I WILL be at Atikokan this year... I didn't take my truck last summer and only made a day trip down with some friends, that is not happening again supposing the tow pig is what ends up hitting the pit. A Cummins Dodge on skinny boggers will probably do not too bad.... LOL

How's it going JP and Evan???
I'm just checking in as well.... From Thunder Bay and Geraldton (depending what time of the year it is). And I'm working on a 4x4 club based out of Thunder Bay.... The website should be released within the next week or two. We were up around Kakabeka last weekend for some wheeling.... It was a pretty good time! |

curious
I am looking to be moving back to the upper midwest in the somewhat near future. Right now I live 2 hrs from Moab and 1.5hrs from the Montrose Colorado trails. There is tons of Rockcrawling out here. I know there aren't many rocks in the midwest but there appears to be tons up in the North of Superior area. What have you got for crawling around T-Bay? Can we build a trail up onto the Giant? LOL! I am looking at what is around the area. T-bay would be about 3.5 hrs from where I would be.

Lifelong 'Pegger here but I've spent a lot of time in my younger years around the Vermillion Bay/Dryden area. I've also spent time in Kenora, Fort Frances, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout. It's such a beautiful region of the country.
But I can't understand why all the mud wheeling? There's so much Canadian Shield country your way with the granite I'm surprised there's not more trail riding of that kind. How are the treehuggers in your area when it comes to 4wheeling? I never in my lifetime thought it would be a problem in Manitoba since the province has such vast spaces, but the NDP is coming out with a bill that's going to seriously restrict our sport. |

Thanks for the info and the links to the websites. I might just have to get into dirt track racing.

Most of the giant is provincial park and not accessible.what is accesible is either private property or slick red clay. We have lots of trails where i live that include sand, rocks, mud, water crossings, big hills and tight windy trails. You can drive south to the american border or go north and end up in shabaqua or shebandowan or east and west for that matter.Lots to see and do while on the trails.

Any of you Northwestern guys ever go out the Gordon Lake way (north of Gordon lake)? Thinking I might want to head up that way with a few friends this summer. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Send me a PM please.

I might be interested in joining you if you head out there. I've been wanting to explore the area for years. I also have some detailed maps of the area. My dad used to have really good old maps that he got from the forest fire fighters years ago, but they're long gone. They showed where all the various falls in the area were and the heights they dropped. |

Last time I was out that way was about two yeas ago and I was on some of those trails looking for fire wood in my 2WD Ford. I only went so far... due to the nature of the trails. Being unused for sometime now, they have gotten to the point where they are impassable in a 2WD. The more and more I think about it, the more I wouldn't mind going that way for some trail running etc. I noticed you're in Winnipeg... where about are you from and what are you driving?

I was talking about the Gordon Lake camp ground. Never been to the Blue lake one. Seems to me that when looking at a topo of the area, the camp at Gordon lake would be the start of the trails. Not to mention, there is some excellent Lake trout fishing there at Gordon lake.

Hmm, never really bene over there, but I'm soon going to be making lots of trips to Red Lake for work...
However, I just came back from my buddy's place in Minnitaki, V-Bay isn't really that far outside of our normal wheeling territory.
