I agree. Not much to see in Saskatchewan. Get yourself a ladder, and you can see the whole province in 20 seconds!
BC is got some sweet terrain. Vancouver is a cool place to visit, but don't focus on it since there is way more to BC than that. I've hitched all over the place in BC (except in Vancouver) without issue. It always helps if you have a case of beer plainly visible to get picked up faster! Don't forget your toque, eh!

Back in the early 90's I helped my brother move from Ottawa to Vancouver. Loaded his junk into a u-haul trailer towed by a gutless Mazda b2200.
All through the prairies there was the same 2 guys hitchiking in every town we passed. Problem was we were driving steady and they beat us to every town! I guess it does work. I finally talked to them and they were 2 brothers from New Zealand, started in BC and hitched across Canada and back!

There is a good chance you will be turned back at the border when hitch hiking, a few people I know who wanted to travel that way across the states were turned back by the American customs officers and then Canadian customs who stopped them claiming walking on the road was illegal.

Check out Banff in Alberta and definitely visit British Columbia. Not too much going on in the prairies (Saskatchewan). If you decide to go east, northern Ontario and Quebec have the great outdoors and the Laurentian mountains, respectively. |

the "when" makes a huge difference to "hitchhiking" mixed with "Prairies"
they get winter out there, not the slightly chilly kind either, they get the real thing. oh and be very sure to tell everyone at the Vancouver Airport that you are not Polish. apparently the RCMP is deadly afraid of Poles with staplers. they dont even let them through Customs alive |

It all depends on when you come up and how long you plan to stay. If its a party your looking for, or want really check out some cool stuff. If you want something to check out in Sask, go to Moosejaw and check out Al Capone's tunnels. Its how he bottlegged barrels of whiskey into the states.
Estevan Sask. has 5 or 6 HUGE draglines. Another cool place would be Franks slide, in Frank BC. One night a whole town was buried alive when the mountian gave way. Theres a bunch of old abandoned mine shafts and stuff to explore. Summer time you gotta hit the Okanagon. Whistler BC if your into mountainbiking, I think you can rent a bike from the resorts there. Jump on the fairy at Van to go to the island. You can tour the island in like a day. Couple vinyards and stuff on the island. Thats all I can think of right now.....Be careful in VAncover. Theres a huge gang war going on....20 people dead in 3 weeks. You might be mistaken for someone your not. |

Come wheeling with us in BC (Near vancouver) instead. If you hitchhike between the 10 minutes it takes me to get from my house to the trails, I will pick you up. But ya have to wear fake boobies so I can motor boat ya when ya jump in.

kind of back on topoc
West Ed mall is neat to see if your from a small place. Its bigger than the mall of Ameirca, at least I think it is.... i saw both within 3 months of each other and i cant really remeber.... ny way.... Vancouver is cool, but try to stay out of west van, not a good place to be lost in. bring beer money, so you can have some real beer. |

Or are you thinking east van? If so East Vancouver is a little nasty with all hitchhikers coming in and getting hooked on drugs living on the street collecting welfare.
