Dana 60 rebuild pointers.....

Just got a new to me D60 (came from a 86 crew cab) what are parts that I need to really look over.

I plan on:
Crossover ( need recommendations)
Going to manual hubs (sticking with 30 spline)
Replacing U-joints
Kingpin rebuild or eliminator
New pinion bearing

Anything else I am missing?

missing, yeah the search button or the sticky at the top of the page

Eliminate the spring in the kingpin not sure who makes the kit.

I know how to search too, I don't want to build an insane front axle with the newest tech just want a dependable, economical, setup.

Oh, you mean like ..... STOCK. Exactly what ideas were you looking for? Replace what is worn, like bearings and seals, and possibly swap gears.

Replace whats worn ie bearings, u joints, seals, upgrade to 35 spline oem shafts if you'd like as well.

I just recently bought my crossover arm and cap from WFO with the spring eliminator and have nothing bad to say about them. Im regearing my dana 60 to 4:88 and so i bought a master install kit from a vendor on here.

Replace ALL the seals...upper and lower kingpin, inner axle, wheel seals, etc...EVERYTHING. They're old and worn, and critical.

Bearings, races, kingpins if they're shot...but at LEAST replace the kingpin bushings and springs (or go springless).

You can buy new, factory spicer 35spline outters for $170 shipped (pair)...then resell your stockers for $30-40 each. Quite a strength upgrade...well worth it, in my opinion...especially if you already have 'em torn down to replace joints.

Best manual hubs are the factory spicers...which can also be broached to 35spline for $80-100...otherwise just hit the classifieds here for a used $40 set of oem warn-made units.
