I bought the drive train out of a 91 dually, and this is the trans that came with it. The top looks alot different then the sm465's that I already have.
The 88-91s have an aluminum top with a slightly shorter throw, different shifter and obviously a different floor opening orientation. You can swap it over to the cast iron top and shifter if you want. I have a cast iron top and shifter I will trade you. I am in northern california.
IIRC, GM also finally took care of the dropping out of third gear issue that plauged alot of these trannys with this design as well. Isn't this trans and T case adapter exactly the same length as a 4wd GM 4500 and bellhousing making it an almost bolt in swap??
