Picked one up yesterday at a yard for $150 and its whole shifter assembly out of a 89 4x4 S-series Blazer. Only thing I forgot to get were cables and console. Anyway the transfer case works but it has dirt in it. Do I need to worry about a rebuild kit when I open it up to clean it ? Anyone got any tips for me while I'm asking on the breakdown of this thing? What should I check? Thanks wasn't really hunting this case just stumbled upon it and thought, why not. I hate my current 233 vacuum setup just trying to eliminate it
Well first of all check for slack in the chain, look to see if the little bushings on the shifter fork are worn, any abnormal wear on the gears. not sure what you mean by a rebuild kit...
That t-case has nothing to do with getting rid of the vacuum setup. It uses the same three prong vacuum switch/system as the 233C you are considering replacing.
