Suggestions; Suburban ass end tube chassis???

Specs- 1987 3/4 Ton suburban with a front D44 and a FF 14 bolt with 4.56 gears and a Detroit out back. 4" front springs, 4" ORD shackle flip sitting on 35" KM2's w/ H2 rims.

Before I just start hacking off the ass end of the burb, does anyone have any suggestions or tips? I want to keep the two doors covered for the family and maybe install some type of roll bar incorporated into it to beef it up a bit. After the dual cab area, I was thinking of sloping some tube downward and have it tie in with the frame for rigidity purposes. I can also cut about 14" of the frame to help with clearance issues. I'll add a fuel cell in the back cage area to get the factory tank out of that area also.

I have searched all over but found nothing quite like what I want to do....

http://www.warn.com/blog/2011/02/08/...lazurban.shtml This is what I want to do with my Suburban. Either that or sheet metal it behind the doors to look like a 3+3 and build a flatbed. I think cutting off the back to look like an Avalanche/Suburbalanch usually comes out ugly. Go into it with a good plan or you will be left with a chopped up suburban that looks like s#%&. Honestly I would focus more on getting a dana 60 and locker, a little bigger tires, beadlocks, gears, traction bar, high steer, etc... Its a lot cheaper to start cutting up a Suburban but it will still break, not get traction, hang up on the t-case, get wheel hop, bend the tie rod on stumps or rocks, pop a bead... If youre willing to commit to building a capable Suburban first then you should decide on how to deal with the big rear end. But for now the big rear end hanging you up is the least of your worries.
