front pinion angle help

i bought a 79 1/2 ton that someone has put the 8 lugs in the truck is a shortbed reg cab standard shift 6 in lift. my pinion on the front diff. is way off the front driveshaft is in a bind because of the angle and will not turn. i guess i need some shims or spacers?. is this something i can buy or do i need to fab up a set. thanks a lot

I heard if you Lincoln lock the front it will fix that problem. Just please don't be an idiot and weld the spiders together, make sure it's ring to pinion. Then give her hell.

Read up on rotating the C's. If you intend to drive it you can't just "shim" the pinion up towards the transfer because it will ruin your castor angle.

i really doubt youll need to cut and turn knuckles for a 6" lift, i mean its so common and not high by any means and so many people make it work with out cutting and turning.... think about it.
get wedges. youll need to bust out the brain and measure before hand with an angle finder and some flat ground to figure out what you need to get.

and as far as getting those shims this is basic google/4wheelparts stuff

You keep whining, but you're missing the point. IT WORKS! When people take the words with a grain of salt and look at what they are really saying, you actually listen and learn. Then you are worth having around. Being spoon fed information does not hardly help anyone. When you take the time to search, it is amazing what all you learn. Not just one little specific thing but tons of things and tons of views that you may not get otherwise. And learn to use a little common sense in this whole underused concept of searching. I once asked a bunch of dumb questions, then I searched. I know much more than I ever could have learned coming in with broad, uneducated questions. I may have a dumb question, but atleast when I ask, I'll have a direction to head with my question and ask in a manner that doesn't make me look totally ignorant. So quit your whining or get the hell off here. Atleast you have google and not the Dewey Decimal System.

Who are you to tell us the point of pirate4x4? Do you have some sort of King of Pirate 4x4 crown and scepter that you rule over all of us with that we missed the memo on?

Last time I checked the vehicle specific sections were NOT for general simple and newbie questions. The manufacturer specific forums have always been for build threads and questions pertaining to generally hardcore and custom fab. Just cause you dont like that doesnt mean we're all gonna change.

And thats besides the point. The fucking question has nothing to do with the truck being a chevy. Hence even if it were a decent question to ask it belongs in gen 4x4, but its not even that. There was a HUGE thread on here about a month ago pertaining to someone generally new to 4x4s undertaking a solid axle swap. He asked the same question this guy did after giving us enough back ground to show he wasnt a moron asking a dumb question and guess what we all helped the guy.

Dude just fab a set up no big deal. I know you said your never coming back...but can you come back and post a picture of your truck, yourself, and your binding driveshaft and buy a star......We'll go from there no big deal. Lets look at it this way. You stated that Pirate is a place for people to go to get information. This is true. Pirate has a great wealth of information. The issue that I have is that the people that want the information refuse to look for it.

This website is much more a republican website than a democratic website. Generally we do not spoonfeed people information, because you dont learn if you dont work for it. It seems that you think we should pet everyone's ego just the right way, make sure we didnt hurt their namby-pamby feelers every time they post in the wrong place for information that has been gone over multiple times by multiple people.

Searching on this forum is possible even for newbies. Obviously, you dont think we should make them search. If someone is too lazy to search, then they really are on the wrong site, or at least on the wrong part of the site. If I have a question, I search. thats why i have a red star. i can search faster. And I do use my red star, i consider it one of the best investments i have made.

Since I have a higher post count than yourself, I happen to post more often. Do I know more than you? I dont know. I seriously dont see you doing a lot of technical assistance posting. Are you hoarding your wealth of knowledge? Do you have a requirement not to help people, or do you just want to complain about those of us that have the information and refuse to let people get something for nothing? People dont take the time to read. you might, but 99% of the public wants to be spoonfed. if you are lurking and reading, great. that tells me that you are trying to gather information, because you dont have as much experience as you think you would need.
