I was just told that all chevy full width axles use the same steering knuckle/hub, etc assembly, no matter what the wb of the vehicle was; be it K5 or crew cab long bed. This is of course assuming that we're talking all 10 bolts or all d44's. How can this possibly be? Wouldn't that mean that they all had the same ackerman angle built into them? That would mean that there is either a huge tolerance in ackerman angle, or that some of these trucks, for which that angle is not optimum, would handle like absolute crap. Is that the deal? Or are the knuckles and such tapped at different points as I suspect?

It's true. But think about it, with the tie rod in front, there is no way to have correct ackerman anyway. This is true for most vehicles... So, they are set as wide as possible and that's it...
