Alternator broke off my 1989, common?
I'm wondering if this is a common problem. I have a 1989 chevy 2500 with a 350 and the lower alternator mount broke off. The metal plate which holds all the accessories on the front of the motor jus snapped off. I had welded it before and it snapped 1 inch lower than my welds. I'm wondering if the metal is just fatigued or is it a bad design? Would too much belt tension cause this? Anyone else have this problem
