4L60E & 4L80E Manual Shift Control

I currently build a switch kit that installs in a Winters shifter for full manual only control of the AW4/A340 transmissions used my Jeeps and Toyotas with no TCM/ECM connection to the trans.
Is there a need for this type of setup using the Winters shifter for the 4L60E and 4L80E transmissions?

I designed brackets to hold microswitches and activation cams, these will supply power to the shift solenoids as you move the shift lever. No computer needed, or you can use a switch to allow the stock system to function or switch it for manual control. Hold any gear, start in any gear.

so this would make a full stock trans into a manual shift ?

i have a fmvb 4l80e and it required a complete tear down to install.

Stock trans, full manual shift by bypassing the computer.

Cool thanks.. I was the one that called you about this today.. I am more than interested.

Questions:

1. I assume there is no control over line pressure? Just full pressure regardless of demand?

2. Engine braking : What gears? Can you turn it on and off?

3. 4th gear / OD: we talked about activating it with a switch to activate. Can you some how build it into one of the shift gates?

Thank you

I ordered a Winters 4L80E shifter today, since I think there will be interest and I like to make new things. Two guys I've talked to seem truly in on this.

No line control, that I think you could used something to make this adjustable to some point using some simple electronic parts but not part of the shift setup I would make.

Engine braking should work in all gears since you move the lever and turn the solenoids on at the same time. Not sure if this can be controlled on-off.

4th gear is OD, this will all be in the shift gates. It's the TC lock that may be able to be controlled by adding an extra switch and moving the lever sideways in 4th/OD. This would probably be an add on option.

First item on the page. Run it with any 4 speed shifter you want. 3 wire hook up.

Good option, this looks like it would do the same thing as my current Baja and Rail shift controllers do as you still do need a floor shifter. The Winters setup is a all in one unit.

So you want to be able to lock the TC in 4th?

4L80E control

The Winters shifter 4L80E model was just delivered today and I've just finished the CAD/CAM for the parts I need to machine. I'm running Winters Kit A340/AW4 parts right now so sneaking in the prototype parts will be easy. I'll post pics so everyone can see what exactly I do to the Winters Shifters.

So do I need to design a part for TC lock when in 4th/OD?

I did have time to get a set of switch cams made since I was already running cams for the A340/AW4 trans, with no extra setup required just a program change made it simple.
So here it is before disassembly and adding the switches and switch cams, and after I removed the side housing. Then a photo of the switch/switch housings and cams installed. 1st thru 4th electric control when you move the shift lever, just that simple.

Well I finished getting this unit assembled this week. I
This is the TC lock switch and bracket inside the right half of the Winters side plate. Moving the lever from left to right in "4" locks the TC.

The assembled unit looking stock as delivered.

These will sell for exactly the same as the A340/AW4 units. $150.00 for the switch kit that you install, and $450.00 for it all installed in a shifter and free USA shipping.
