We've had an itch to build a blazer for a good year or so, wanted something with AC, heat, a bit more room, and a few creature comforts.
After looking at a few basket cases, we picked up a 82 with a locked up 6.2 and 700R4/208 combo. Body was clean with just a bit of surface rust around the body moldings...bought it from the original owner with 280K miles, spent it's whole life around NW OK.
We weren't too concerned about the condition of the drivetrain...planned on swapping out as much as we could.
Fortunately, we also found a 86 K30 CUCV with a 6.2/400/208 combo just a few days after picking up the blazer.
We brought both home a little less than 2 months ago.
