np 243 electro crap
what can I replace a np 243 electric shift transfer with and go stick. Or is there a way to convert these to stick shift. I converted a 2wd to 4wd and the electronics isn't there for the dash.

I converted my 233 to manual shift, probably similar to yours. I removed the electric shifter and tore it apart. I used one of the gears, the one that meshes with the t-case, and welded it to a 231 shift lever. Then I drilled a hole into where the lever is to be mounted. Was gonna tap the hole but it didn't hold very well so I welded a stud in. Then a nut holds the lever on and I'm using the stock type shifter linkage setup. I'll see if I can find a pic. The only downside is that there's no neutral.
Here's some pics, give ya a better idea. http://www.angelfire.com/wv2/jamus2/buildup3.html

A 243 is essentially a 241, with electric shift. You could just put a 241 in from a truck your body style. Im actually looking for a 243.
