Got another K5 after selling mine 3 years ago. It had the original half ton axles under it, so the first thing I did was put 3/4 tons under it. 6" all spring lift on 35" tires.

My rig

with this truck I found out there is no such thing as a free truck.

350/350/203/12b/d44

Shit I had to replace before I could even drive it.
Grill
Hood
Doors, hinges, strikers
Heater core
Heater motor
Heater controls
Heater cables
Seats
Carpet
Inside side panels
Starter
Battery
Wipers and arms
Replace tcase
New trans pan gasket
Oil pan gasket

Things I did to make it "mine"

Vortec head swap
Single plane intake
Camshaft
Holly carb
Msd ignition (hei swap included)
8" lift
38x12.5 tsls
Tcase 4wd kit
Unlocking hubs
Paint (rattle bomb)
2300-2500 stall converter
Full length headers
Exhaust

Crap I still need to do:
rebuild 12bolt an regear axles
Build new rear bumper
Needs real paint some day
fender flares
fix fuel tank filler neck leak I think



So far the truck has done me good
I raced it for the first time in 2 events list summer and took 1st in both.

Just traided up for some 38s for the little Dime and hooking the Dmax up with an ATS torque converter so fix the slip issues.

Yep, it ran when I bought it. After sitting for a few years it needed a battery and fuel line to carb was rotted and leaking (didn't find that until after it was running for a few minutes when it sprayed so much fuel out I thought the radiator blew!). The brake prop valve was toast so no rear brakes but front was enough to get it home. After pulling the 350 heads found a couple cylinders were pitted to deep to keep it under a .40 bore soon after I picked up an '82 GMC K3500 as a donor for the axles with a Gen VI 454,TH400 and 203
for $900.

Oh yeah, no rust/cancer either!
