Starter converion...staggered mount

I have a '67 427 in an Kaiser M715 that has a weak stock starter. It has the staggered mounting setup...I was wondering if it's possible to use a standard straight pattern starter on it? Reason I ask is that it appears that there's another bolt hole inline with the outside hole that may let me use a straight pattern starter. I'd like to use the straight starter because I want to go to the modern PMGR type and the straight pattern is much more common.

Thanks
