WHAT HAS 52" OR 56"
What trucks had 52" springs and which ones have 56" springs. I bought a lift kit with rear springs 5 years ago for my 81 Blazer and want to swap it all onto my 73 K20. I'm not that worried about 1/2 ton load vs. 3/4 ton load springs. Just as long as I can haul whatever crap I need to.

they vary, but for a general rule the 73-87 4wd has 52 and the 2wd had 56(not always though)...i've got the info on my chevy page...here's the link.... http://leafspringstacks.generalspringkc.com/Chevy.html

My '90 Burb 4x4 1/2 ton has 56s. I needed to check, because it couldve been either one according to Skyjacker when I ordered my lift. (Shouldve got 63s and done a shackle flip... live and learn...)
Seems kinda random, maybe what they had on hand at time of manufacture??? |

Like stated earlier, the frame is drilled for either length; so if the mount is bolted in the forward holes, it's a 52, the rear holes, 56". What does it really matter what and the hell what length came in what. I mean seriously, can't we find something more important to argue about? If you have 56" springs, and your truck came with 52's, then move the shackle. Simple as that.
Why don't we argue something more important like... What's better offroad, TSL Thornbirds or BFG T/A KO's? |

Well I measured and the springs from my old 81 Blazer which are now on a 86 Blazer are 52 inch, and the springs on my 73 K20 are 52 inch. And if they were different I know it would have been an easy swap. Thanks!!

KansasJoe i never called you an idiot, i said you were wrong, just like you said about other people. Maybe you werent 100% wrong, but you werent 100% correct either . If it offends you oh well, life goes on. Now lets all S.T.F.U. and wheel damnit

Here's the best response....measure before ordering because the 1/2 and 3/4 both have 52 and 56" springs....so verify with whomever you are purchasing your springs from so that you are not stuck with them, and if you do get the wrong ones then you can adjust the hanger accordingly....sound good for everyone??? Measure twice, order once!!!

All burbs and 1 tons have 56" springs. The 1/2 ton 2wd burb has the softest 56" pack I have found. All K5's came with 52" springs. The 52" vs 56" toss up on pickups is usually based on bed length. Long beds get 56" and short beds get 52".
Usually!!

4xrick, thats the custom package fronm the factory very rare, used for a very short time. I think they decided it was too soft and flexy so they junked it, as should you just send it my way and ill take care of it for ya (You pay shipping of course).

Go figure. I don't doubt that some burbs have them. I have only seen the 56" in the burbs when I was looking for them for my K5. Found about 20+ rigs with them and thought it was a given. Lern something new all of the time.
