Blazer Stuck In 4wd Low And Won't Come Out

A friend of the wifes has a 92 S-10 Blazer that is stuck in 4 low and it won't go back in to 2wd drive.. So how do you get it to disengage to go back in 2wd drive if the the button doesn't want to cooperate

Is there something I can disconnect that will reset it back to 2wd so it's drivable or does this thing have an adjustment or what part has to be replaced ?

It has worked fine up until today so I know it's got to be a simple problem.. I have seen a couple threads on here where somebody else had a similar problem but the search is not pulling them up

It has the push button electronic shift and when you push it to go back in 2wd it blinks and you can here it clicking in the area of the glove box like normal but instead of the light turning green to go back in 2wd it flashes and goes back to yellow which is 4 low.. I tried driving it and going from drive to reverse several times thinking that might help but it's still in 4 low.. It would make more sense if it wouldn't go in to 4wd than going in and not coming out.

Hey, it's a stab in the dark but maybe the wiring has pooched on it? Is the 4Lo light on showing that it is activated? My friend had the reverse effect happen to him, unfortunately gears fell into the mechanics hands when he unbolted the front diff cover.

I really don't know what to tell ya, perhaps it's a common problem in s10 blazers, I'll have a look on the good old google

i cant rember if it's the same for the push button, but the truck might have to be in nertrual for it to come out of 4lo. i know it has to be on my blazer but it's got the stick shifter thats on the floor.

haha im having a slow night, there is no 2lo

4low yes that is correct it has to be in Neutral

Yeah it's more common not to go in to 4wd drive than it is to go in 4wd and not come out.. I have seen a few that the 4wd wouldn't work due to vacum or a faulty switch but it went in to 4 low with no problems and now it won't go back to 2wd.. Thanks for the link.

It's not in 2wd it's in 4 low.. To shift from 2wd to 4 hi it doesn't have to be in neutral but to shift from 2wd to 4 low it does.. I have tried all positions and it still won't come out of 4 low back to 2wd..

maybe the actuator is stuck. could have gotten lodged once it went in and now wont unstick. I am not sure where it is but you should be able to pull it and take a look.

Any more ideas on how to get it back in 2wd ?
