np 208 vs. np241
so i ve had my 87/88 jimmy fs for a while now. its fuel inj w/ a 700r4. i assumed it had a np 241 like my 89 had. i was workin under it today and noticed the tag on the t case said np 208.it looks like a 241. i know nothing about the 208. how does it compare? should i be saving up for a 241?

241 is a slightly more updated version of a 208. 241 is a better case, and there are more aftermarket parts for it. 208 low range is 2.61 vs. 241 low range 2.72. im looking to swap a 241 in eventually and get a slip yoke eliminator.

I have 84 fs blazer the NP241 is new version of NP208 (NP241 2:72-1 ratio ,NP208 2:61-1 ratio) I use SM465 / NP208 . NP241 came out in 1988. I have no problem with NP208, I have not blown one yet unless you in break the transfer case i have seen front drive shaft go into the transfer case. The only problem is it is the case is weak same as NP241.

I just recently bought a 86 GMC 1T. It has a 208, all my experience is with 205's. Is this T-case really worth messing with or should I just swap in one of my old 205's out of my old beater? You say that the case is weak, and I know the 205 case is bulletproof. The new truck is already lifted 12", 60/14ff, 5.13's, and 38 M/T. This swap would get rid of the slip yoke I know, but what would this do to the angle of the front driveshaft. Thanks.
