205 to 465
I'm trying to change my 1 ton to a 4 speed [now a 400 turbo],i have a 465 out of a 86 half ton with 32 spl output and the round 208 adapter.i have a 205 with the round bolt pattern,i know i have to notch it out for the shift rail but i was wondering if the bolt holes would line up and if the 465 is any longer than the 400[will i have to move the cross member].any help could save me alot of future headaches.

The sm465 to 205 tc adapter is a very hard piece to find. I switched my th350 for an np205 and ended up having to get a transfercase and adapter frome behind a 465. The autos have different output/input combos than the manual setups. Start looking for an adapter now though, took me 2 months to find one.

465 to 205
If this is a wheeling rig, think about stuffing a Klune V between the two if you cant find the stock adapter. This is a very spendy option though........but will give you a very good crawl ratio. Good luck.

I just took the tc out and made a temp plate of the bolt pattern,it looks like its a direct bolt up to a 465 to 208 adapter [with some grinding for the shift rail
].thx for the imput. p.s. this is anewer style 205 from an 86 1 ton with the round six bolt pattern Last edited by 85 beater; 01-04-2006 at 10:37 AM. |
