Chevy Leaf Spring Question

First of all, were all GM leaf springs from say 73' to current 2.5" wide? Also is there a bad side to drilling the springs in order to move the center pin to better position the axle?

You're better off redrilling the spring perches and plates. Leaf springs are a PITA to drill, plus you will have weak spot at the old hole.

I figured there would be a stress concentration at the old hole. Thanks.
