i have a 89 chevy 350 with 5 speed manual and transfer case and want to put them into an older 84 frame with solid front anxel. the transfer case is exiting on the wrong side. can it be clocked to fit?
the 89 has driver side diff the 84 has passanger side..... if i had a 84 transfer case would it bolt to the newer 5 speed tranny...? lost and helpless PAS |

you need either a pside 241 [one is currently for sale in the classified section] or a 208. i dont know what the spline count is for your [getrag3500?]
but both should fit. tech by assumptoin, both the get rag and 700r4 came in the s10, it typicaly had a 231 tcase. my buddy did a 700r4 straight no-mods to the case/shafts swap from a 231 to a 208 [sas chevy d44]. you will have to modify you shifter setup, maybe just get the 80-92 208 shifter from the fullsize trucks.

The Getrag from a fullsize is 32-spline. If your 208 is attached to a std trans or TH400 auto, it will swap right over.
If you have a TH700 or TH350, you need to install a 27-spline input for the 208. Sometimes its cheaper/easier to find a whole t-case instead.
