Question chevy 283 heads

I am in need of some help trying to figure out if you can put 350 chev heads on a 283 chev block??

Because the difference in bore between the 283 and 350 is only .125" then the radius would only be half or .0625. Yes it was done, and is done all the time. Just use good heads. The old camelbacks were swapped onto 283 all the time back in the day. Just be careful about the headgasket you use. I wouldn't use one that would fit a 400. Rather be picky and find one specific to a 4" bore.

just be sure to use a small chamber head 54cc not 76cc

You mean 64cc? It wouldn't matter if he did use 76cc as long as he had proper deck height with flattops.

so as long as i use a precise head gasket and as long as valves and pistons don't touch it should work. cause the heads i have and wanna put on are 76cc 350 off a 78

i would think that that big of a chamber would kill your comp %

As a rule of thumb. If you have 9:1 comprssion with a 64cc head then you would have 8:1 using the 76cc head. I will say that not one 283 came stock with this large of a head.
