head gasket on a vette?
ok i replaced the intake manifold on my 79 uncles vette (350c.i.) and i also replaced the left head gasket (it was leaking). but now after i put it all back together the other head gasket started leaking (a small amount of water comes out of the # 2 and 6 cylinder) and i already torqued all the bolts down to specs. i believe the reason it started leaking is because my cousin said that he loosend and retightend all of the head bolts on that head after i left. well my uncle needs this car by wensday and i was whonderin can he drive it around with all the other spark plugs in and leave the one where the cylinders leak out? and maybe the heat from the engine will seal the head gasket again. because i just don't have the time to fix it again. any advice would be appreciated. and yes i know my cousins a damn jerk.

4 wheelin a vette???
Only If you hate your uncle. That's something you might do if you were stranded in the middle of nowhere and you ran out of options, need to get to a hospital live or die thing. It would run rougher than hell - overheat, still will be pulling fuel into the 2 cylendars and blowing some gas back out into the engine compartment untill you turned him into a roman candle. You wouldn't want to leave the plugs in eather, water won't compress. Park it and repair it. |
