97 Z71 Isolation/dump valve question

Does anyone know anything about the isolation (dump) valve in the braking system of a '97 GM truck? They're $400 new and all of us at the shop are wondering if there's a reasonable repair to be done to the unit. Seems to be a fairly popular replacement item on these trucks. The local dealership started scratching their heads when I asked this question and responded with a, "hell we just replace 'em, but there probably is something rebuildable in it." Anyone have good used ones?
