What lift for 36"?

I have a 77 shortbed that I would like to put 36" TSL's on. My initial plan is a ORD shackle flip and a RoughCountry 4" lift kit with the RS 9000 shocks. Will this clear 36"? I have trimmed the fenders to clear 33" LTBs that were on it so that they didnt rub, plus I have a 1" spacer on the front that I plan to keep. I have a Dana 44 front out of a 73 in it already. I sthis strong enough? the truck will be used for trails and mud only and has a 350/350/203 drivetrain. One last question, what is a fair price for a dana 60 rear or 14 bolt rear?

Thanks

well first of all, you really should have posted this in the newb section.

You are going to need to do a good amount of fender triming to fit 36's with only 4" of lift.
I would just put on the lift, then the tires.
Then jack up a tire and turn it to see where it is going to hit sheet metal, trim accordingly.

Fair price for a 60 or 14bolt, I guess that depends on wether it is set up or not. If it has 5.13's and a Detroit, then you should pay a few bucks, if it is a 3.73 open, I wouldnt pay more than a hundred bucks for either.

noob, but thats ok. i have 6" and am clearing 38" SX's. I used a sawzall. It works awesome to clear big tires. you have a 1" spacer on the front???? is that a lift block maan? get rid of that for sure, you shouldn't run blocks in the front. I am trying to help you...or save you depending on how you look at it. I wouldn't pay more than 100 bucks for either the 60 or 14 in factory trim. good luck.

It is a spring that goes on the bottom of the leafs, held with the spring pin(had a new longer pin). It cant move and adds nothing to the spring rate just makes the spring pack taller. I decided to get a 4" lift for the front and a shackle flip for the rear and loose the spacer. How much did you have to cut. Sorry for posting this here instead of the noob section. I wanted chevy info from people who now.

I would love to know where you can find a front Dana 60 for $100!

a buddy of mine has a blazer with a rancho 4" kit on it, he fits 35s no problem. although not much flex. so im sure you can fit 36s with some trimming and just never turn the tires good luck man!

4" and a lot of trimming should do. You may run into a problem in mud if you lose the inner fenders. The 44 will be fine if you are running an open diff and are easy on the gas. Otherwise, you are going to break it.

I am pretty sure if READ what he said...you'll see he was asking for a rear 60. If we could front 60's for 100 bucks, I'd buy a grip of them, what a dream.

To clear 36's with that extra plus some room, may i suggest a 6" even better with a flip you can eliminate bottom leafs to drop spring rate for fles and ride.

Rough Country spring are great for truck with 1 tons or even rockwells.
they have a good 600lbs spring rate out of the box, but lossing lowers will drop it allot. get 1-tons if you have excess to them buy all means rough country even has the one tone lifts, key thing to remember on a 14ff out of a true 1-toner the u-bolts are square keep the half ton retainer plate and have the plateholes bored out 1/4" each hole to accept the 3.5" round u-bolts

Here is a pic of my rig 38 x 14.5 x 15 sx's one a 60/14 combo.

RC man, what lift you running to clear those 38's? That is how i like a truck to look. Most of the wheeling I do is mud and muddy trails with some rough trails thtrown in. I have wheeled this truck stock for 3 years with 33x13.5 LTB's, and now I want to go bigger, but i dont want to blow the front 44 the first time out, but i am more worried about the rear 12 bolt. I would love to run 38's if I had the cash, but I cant swing a grand for 4 tires right now. maybe I will get a 6" so I dont have to buy a new lift just to clear 38's next year...

heres your best option for price and results. disagree if you will. I would go 6" springs, drop the bottom leaf out back and do a shackle flip, the flip is easy and cheap . If your good with a welder, you could even build your own brackets. If you can, get your 1 tons or something near. But with 36" tires, mud shouldn't kill your factory axles. If your carefull on the throttle near the dry stuff, you shouldn't be snapping anything too soon. save your money and get a front 60. Then swap your $100 ff14 in the rear. Good luck my friend

one of my buddies has an '85 1/2 that we swapped with 3/4's. We put 2in blocks on it front and rear, a little fender trimming, and the 35x16x15 boggers fit real well.
*edit* I forgot to mention we put a 3in body lift on it. The tires stick out about half way from the body too, so thats what, about 8in?

I'm running 36" iroks (bias) on a K5 with 5" of lift in the rear (4" spring and 1" zero rate) and 4" tuff country springs up front. D60/14bff combo. I only needed mild trimming up front ~ 4" at the bottom of the fender behind the front tire. I haven't touched the rear fenders . These tires measure about 36.5"

Wheel offset will affect this as well. I have wheels with not enough back spaing...they're 3.5". Works good for stuffing the tires, but make the truck wider than I like.
