sm465
The saginaw 3 speed colum shift behind my screamin inline 250 is getting replaced by a sm465, i have all the goodies, correct bellhousing, flywheel, starter ( if the tooth count is different, havn't checked yet). Question is will the throwout fork work from the 3 speed, are the throwout bearings the different? Also will I have to carve out the whole center of the floor, or just enough room for the shift tower? She's a 78 c10 (2wd) Dont give me any "its not a 4x4" crap, my other rigs is a jeep, just answer the tranny swap question.

How tall is the floor at the moment? Usually the manuals have a removable center section that is about 4'' tall. If you have this then all that is necessary is a hole enough for the top of the tower about 5'' circle I think.
Throw out fork and bearing should be the same---along with the clutch assy. Shouldn't have to change the flywheel. All that should change is the bellhousing, trans, and driveshaft Last edited by KWTMECH; 09-20-2006 at 06:38 PM. |

If I'm not mistaken the top of the 465 will stick through the floor a little bit. the boot that they came with is huge. the factory hale is oblong ~4.5x6
