A few years back I bought a 89 Chevy S-10 Blazer for $700 it was on a used car lot for $950 with a trashed windshield and a bent axle, and the fwd didn't work, the dummy that owned the lot had no idea what he had, I slapped a axle in, replaced the windshield, screwed a used vacuum switch into the transfer case and reconnected the hose under the battery. I then proceeded to find out just what I'd bought, so I buried it half way up the doors in mud, slapped the transfer case in 4 low put the trans in 1 and climbed out the drivers door window and watched the truck crawl out of the mud on her own.
Shes all stock, l except for the new radio I installed last year, and the general Grabber AT2 tires. Yes the old lady has a few problems, the window rubber is totally shot and she uses a quart of oil every now and then, but at 173892 miles she'll still stand up and smoke a Explorer off the line and through the whole range ![]() The real fun part is when I pull a H2 out of the muck with a little 4.3 litre. 99.9% of my parts so are fome from a junk yard called pick and pull, Hopefully on here I can find more links like thease in this thread

Wolfen1086 would the pick and pull where you are happen to be near Kansas City on I-435 because I have pulled many parts out of there over the past couple of years

I found plenty of jeep ones and one for a scout II but neither had the hub assemblies, it was pretty much all diff stuff, and im not sure if it is the same as a chevy d44 Last edited by Hardstripe; 03-31-2010 at 09:28 PM. |

Gear ratio calculator
here is a link that has been mentioned a in the chev forum a few times to a very well put together gear ratio calculator that allows you to side by side different builds of your rig with different powertrain options: http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html

U-joint identification
Here's some good links on how to identify different u-joints if you needed to:
http://www.therangerstation.com/Maga...08/ujoints.htm this one is great for all the 1310 to 1400 series u-joints: http://www.actionmachineinc.com/ujoi...ringguide.aspx here's a couple found by member Guidolyons: Cross reference Dana/Spicer u joint dimensions here: http://www2.dana.com/expert/wc.dll?h...ookup~5-297-1X Neapco has a good .pdf with cross reference to other mfg part numbers, too: http://www.neapco.com/pdf/2007universaljointcatalog.pdf __________________

These are some of the more helpful threads I've found on swapping long spring onto you 73-87/91 chevy. Hope this helps those looking to do the swap.

drivability problems, stalling, backfire, lack of power
here's a good website that lists common trouble areas and stuff to check when experiencing engine drivability problems such as backfiring, lack of power, hard starting, etc. it's mostly for carbureted vehicles but most stuff can be applied to all cars/trucks. http://www.recarbco.com/technical/newtrouble.html

rebuilding a 205
here's a good article on rebuilding a 205 as well as some of the differences in them. also search the first page of the chevy FAQ. Grumpy posted a good thread on the different adapters and input gear combos available for a 205.

How do i tell the difference between a np208 and a np241 transfer case? I just bought a th400/np208 combo to put in my 93 4runner. The guy said it came out of a 90' suburban and he told me it was a 208 but from what i have been reading they came with either the 208 or the 241 so mybe he didn't know and just assumed it was a 208. Thanks
