The 4.10 carrier is actually the one to have if you ever want to go even lower. I bought a CUCV axle and the stock 4.56 gears/carrier are proving to be the only gears that will fit on that carrier. All the gear manufacturers make their 4.56, 4.88, 5.13, and 5.38 gear thick to fit the 4.10 carrier. So I'm pretty much screwed. Wish I had known this before I bought these axles.

As the others said....unless you got a 4.56 carrier already most aftermarket gearsets are designed to fit the 4.10 carrier.
However, its said (and i dont know if there is any truth to it) that the thick 4.56+ gearsets are marginally stronger. Anyone know if there is any truth to this? |
